Metallica’s St. Anger.....???

IT'S A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!  Being a fan of their older works (from Kill Em All to the black one), this shattered my expectations of Metallica going back to their more interesting ways.  My reasons are as follows:

- Nu-Metal sounding.

- Poor production.

- NO GUITAR SOLOS!

I always liked every Metallica album, from the thrashy early days to the most commercial releases of the mid 90s. When "St Anger" came out, I was expecting a mix of "Kill Them All" and the Black album... and got this bulls**t instead. Sound is horrible, production is horrible... I've not seen anything worse since except Annihilator's "Waking The Fury".

If someone wants to hear what should have been the real follow-up to the Load/Reaload albums, try Paradise Lost's "Symbol Of Life".

all the songs are based on one extremely simple riff with no lead guitars at all and lyrics that are repeated over and over again...

WELL-WRITTEN SONGS...should have put IMO in there.  I do believe they put thought and time into the songs they wrote.  I fully believe that James was telling stories in his lyrics.  That's why I sad what I said.  No lead guitar?  So bloody what?  Has that been in vogue lately?  No.  Simple riffs?  So?  Who cares?  Listen to it for what it is...a decent album.  Bravo, guys.

Hyped; no doubt.  It took a while to grow on me.  I didn't see what the fuss was all about.  But the more I listened to it, the more intrigued I was.  It IS an important disc beause it was one of the forerunners of thrash, along with PEACE SELLS BUT WHO'S BUYING and REIGN IN BLOOD.
