You should be a comedian. And where'd you get that 'reinventing metal' crap? All I hear on 'St. Anger' is recycled Korn, Kyuss and Sabbath riffs.

^ I think that they pretty much reinvented themselves with every album (if you see Load/Re-Load as one double album). And they reinvented Metal with every album except St. Anger, so MM has a point here.

The Eighties era is better MORE PROGRESSIVENESS TO SOME OF THEIR SONGS.

Try "Call of Ktulu" for a good progressive track.

I can't stand to listen to the albumbut when they played a few cuts from it in concert they really weren't that bad. The production takes so much away.

well thats a possibility

but I dont think its the production which is ruining it, its the songs themselves

I agree with the first part

but most Metallica fans awaited to hear music, not kitchen pans pounding....

It's not nearly as bad as that. It's just so different than any previous drum kit ...

Yes, in that the snare was replaced with a big red rubber dodgeball. *POOOONG! POOOONG*

I think Bob Rock needs to be given the hugest Uber Wedgie of all time for contributing to the ruin of one of the most influential metal bands of the entire genre.

I'm all for bands evolving, I just don't dig where thy went, personally. Also, I think that when a band start sounding like the bands _they've_ influenced (Slipnot, Korn, etc.)... it's time to pack it in.

Making a crappy-sounding, aggressive, 'garage' album wasn't a bad idea. Shame about the final product, though.

I prefer St. Upid.

I couldn't believe my ears when I heard Load (of Crap) - what drivel!!!

Metallica's first 4 albums showed a clear path of re-invention and re-definition both of the band and the entire Metal genre. Even the 5th is revolutionary in many ways.

What is revolutionary about Load?

It's dry, boring, ordinary Rock music.

If it was done by anyone else, it wouldn't have sold as well - I bought it through curiosity - the early stuff had been brilliant, what would that sound like?

I needn't have bothered - I felt stitched up. I still think it's crap more than 10 years later.

And St. Anger is better than Load or Reload (Two Loads of Crap!), but it's not even nearly as radical or progressive as the early material.

And I don't like it either.

It's stupid!
