Should know more about it tomorrow!

I'll keep my fingers crossed - it would be great if you could make it!

actually former trains ended up in Victoria station , but the Eurostar ends up in Waterloo. So either Waterloo or Paddington (the girlfriend - a former travel agent - loves the Paddington Mews and knows relatively cheap hotels in the area) would be fine.

Any prog record shops I should know about for Saturday?

So we'd be getting around 3PM in London and leaving Sunday around 4PM, provided that the trains are not fully booked.

Kind of 'Images & Words' then..?

I was looking forqard to a Foxtrot myself, but the review makes it sound like at least a 4 star..

The Golden Shalimar sounds good to me - and it's great that Hugues will be there as well. I just feel sorry for the poor waiters having to put up with a bunch of prog heads arguing about TAAB vs A Passion Play all evening. (OK, there's no argument. TAAB is infinitely superior.)

This sounds like THE prog event of 2006 (wonder if it will make diary pages of classic rock magazine).

If I can get my ASBO rescinded on appeal i'll be there

WRONGE.

Actually, Hugues raises an important point - any good prog shops us outsiders should know about? I've got countless albums that I really really really must buy (I shan't admit them on here, for fear of being branded an evil music-stealing b*****d... though you all probably know I'm one anyway) so any record shop tip-offs would be much appreciated.

I blinked and missed the thread - (it his age you know). Grand idea - to see if you lot are as weird as me & don't forget to wear your anoraks.

Somewhat ironically I will be sitting in a plane flying back to Birmingham airport from Brussels on the 20th. But I will be stopping near the centre of Brussels on the night of 19th.

Problem with London, even living less than 130 miles away, is the travel.  I've given up doing London gigs in the week because it is near impossible to get back and coherent for the following day's work starting at 9am, (one car in the family and British Rail shut up shop from St Pancras at 11.30pm -  btw made the Gary Lucas gig on 27th Dec in London's tin pan alley because I got a lift there and back). (BTW Manchester is also problematic - bloody Stockport and the A6). Birmingham is easier for gigs, but being lazy, Nottingham and Leicester are more favoured - but 2005 wasn't the best year for gigs locally and then I had flu for the Magic Band visit to Nottingham.

I should think they've had worse customers in there than prog heads.

I wonder what kind of music they play in the restaurant? Indian prog?

APP is not really that great compared to TAAB i mean side 2 is fine and original enough but the first one just seems like a bunch of random riffs thrown into one song to make it 20 minutes...it just seems messy and IMO it features some of the worst time changes in the history of PROG while TAAB got excellent time changes like forexample in 18 minutes out in TAAB part two and 16 minutes on in part one

Adjourn the meeting to the Midlands and we can raid Leicester-based  Ultima Thule on the Saturday afternoon - and even my local independent record shop has a couple of dozen Repertoise Records reissues in replica cardboard sleeves of bands like Gravy Train, Jade Warrior, May Blitz, Patto etc.

Selectadisc is now called Sister Ray, but otherwise appears unchanged. The second hand shops on Berwick street are also worth trawling through if you've got time, especially Reckless (they have 2 shops now, one specialising in Hip Hop, Dance etc). The main branch of HMV on Oxford Street is also worth checking out.

^ LOL!

Sorry Snowie, my good man -- Canada is in fact veritably awash in alcohol!

Seems you weren't the only one to take me seriously, though: there's a couple of government-types at the door -- something about my "single-handedly trying to destroy the Canadian tourism industry."Confused These feds can't take a joke!

The thought had crossed my mind, Dick.

But how to get a leicester by train raid UT and come back in three or four hours. (how long is the train ride anyway?)

Maybe they can open on sunday morning>>>>>>>>>.. just kidding, I think I read somewhere this was banned because of abuse.

So no prog rock addresses to give you unless you want to head in Namur 50Km S-E of Brussels and visit the Music Emporium - Ali Baba's cave.

Peddling Lou reed bootlegs to transvestites??

Excellent suggestions , keep'em coming,

because this will save me from having to follow the girlfriend to her stupid decoration shops and candy stores. I think she will bring three empty suitcases but bring them back full to Brussels.
