I like cheesy prog!

But yes, Rhapsody, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Kamelot, Uriah Heep and almost all prog metal sounds pretty cheesy to me. That doesn't mean I don't like it.

Of course Genesis and Yes were quite cheesy too in the 80s. I like those albums too.

Some cheese from some of my favourite bands:

  • Magma - Call From The Dark (Ooh Ooh Baby). Magma take on Euro disco - and lose.
  • Jethro Tull - A Christmas Song. Ian Anderon has written many intelligent, well crafted songs about organised religion. This isn't one of them.
  • Genesis - The Battle of Epping Forest. Public schoolboys playing East End gangsters. Possible inspiration for Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels.
  • Can - She Brings The Rain. More Donovan than Krautrock.
  • King Crimson - Ladies of the Road. Leave the groupie songs to Zappa.
