Actually the thread is a good question.

Wondrous Stories - This song definitely beckons to nostalgia, childhood days and psychedilic imaginations. It also points at the mind's eye being ' open' and receptive to the storyteller.

Parallels - a warning to not go beyond the point of no return, could relate to drugs or just p

ushing the outer limits of oneself. There is a pararllel dimension there, we just need to find it

"Awaken" = typical Anderson; whimsical, mystical...one can interpret it more than one way, but won't know what it really means unless Jon tells us.

You can find the lyrics to Going For The One and other Yes albums on www.songmeanings.net.

http://www.songmeanings.net/artist.php?aid=7139

Here's some quotes -

Going For The One - "It's about the futility of sports. Chasing a ball around. "The truth of sport plays rings around you." - (Olympic rings reference) Going for number one -The winner, the best. The thrill of it is what matters. The way it makes you feel alive. it gives you a kind of spiritual high."

Wonderous Stories - "The meaning of the song is fairly straightforward. In each verse, the narrator is in an encounter with his "Forgiver," but at each encounter, the narrator is too preoccupied with "your wonderous stories."
The Jesus figure opens the pearly gates for him, sends his spirit flying away into the heavens, and each time the narrator just thinks 'I hope I can get home in time for those wonderous stories!'"

"Awaken"-clearly about God and such. Just look at the referring to him as "Master of images, soul, light, and time", and the line "O closely guided plan, awaken in our heart". Not to mention the biblical reference in the last 3 lines.
