Just finished The Da Vinci Code (sorry, guys, I enjoyed it, so there), and as it's coming up to Christmas, Ive now started on a festive book (sort of) - Terry Pratchett's "Hogfather" - this has been on the shelves for ages, along with another 20 or so Pratchett books - I can't believe I've never read this one...

I also just finished the Da Vinci Code,and while I enjoyed it I can't really see what all the fuss was about.I have read books that were a lot better.

Right now I just started the newest book in Simon R. Greene's Nightside series.

 

The Davinci Code is just plain silly, I think. I read that last year and thought at the time 'Really, wow! is that true' etc etc... I think Dan Brown used an excessive amount of artisitic license when he wrote that book. I think it's probably 'all mouth and no trousers' It's a pleasant enough read but presents too much fluff as fact..

I'm just coming to the nd of 'The Chrysalids' by John Wyndham. I've read several of his other books including 'Day of the Triffids' 'The Kraken wakes' and 'Chocky' but I think I like this one the most. The issues it seems to be raising about intolerance and biggotry are very relevant today, some fifity years or so after he wrote it.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

I'll agree. Many writers don't know what to do about endings. The end of the Hyperion series is brilliant, IMO.

I enjoyed Black House, although it didn't seem to reach the same level of brilliance as The Talisman, IMO.

I really don't expect it to be as brilliant as The Talisman.If it is half as good I will be happy.This book has been around for awhile and I never got to read it because I had so much other stuff to read.My wife read it and says it is pretty good.

(translated tittle).
Not bad, but not as transcendant as castaneda's books of course.

This book is based on an incredible true story who takes roots on the World War II.

It mentions how Germans soldiers robbed Hungarian Hebrews's properties (gold, gold watches, gold coins, jewellery, gold plates, gold in ingots, wedding rings, silver articles, cash, stamp-collections, cameras, binoculars, Persian carpets, old valuable furnitures), enough to fill up a 50 wagons train, for an estimated value of 1 MILLIARD and 300 MILLIONS EUROS approximately.

Excellent book, well written (in detail), who makes you think about those millions of innocent people which really found the hell in those places and the Devil inside the German's eyes.

Highly Recommended for people who likes contemporary history books.

I have been reading alot of mythology lately, none of the whole Greek/Roman stuff but tales of the icy north! Odin and Thor and a little bit of celtic stuff, right now im working through Beowulf and it is excellent
