Wind up sounds like a yucky hard rock song, but at least wind up(quad version) sounds like a proggy tune ;). Have you notice the MU version of loco breath? Ians vocals are alot nicer and the guitar is recorded alot better. You will hear Martins riffs alternating between speakers and this make a predictable song sound quite a bit more interesting. I'm assuming you have heard the life is a long remix. It is so much better than the original 

I do own the M.U. compilation...never compare the two version of bungle in the jungle...I'll take a listen...

u gotta admit wondring again is at least as good as wondring aloud. Up the pool is as good as up to me. life is a long song(remix) is as good as mother goose ;)

Aqualung 1 and Aqualung 2 have most of the best acoustic pieces i have heard. "Wond´ring aloud","Wond´ring again","Mother goose","Slipstream","Life is a long song"...  

I agree. I just got living in the past and the remastered version of Aqualung for christmas. So many wonderful acoustics from the same year. No band in history has beautiful acoustic like jethro tull. Today I feel the same as I felt in 1971 when I bought the Aqualung lp. I always thought LITP was either a bunch of live songs or just a best of compilation. But I was so wrong. I suppose Aqualung 1 is only just better, but maybe not next week. I also love the heavier numbers such as For later, Dr bogenroom, lick your fingers clean. Wind up also sounds rather interesting as a quad recording. I am intrigued to hear the remix of life is a long song. What is the MU version of locomotive breath?

This must be the best year of any rock band in history. Aqualung was a pretty good album, but the amount of very good songs that did not make the album is unheard of. I think Aqualung 2 may have the edge.

Hot headed English general was played live with vocals in 1971. It could be another studio outtake in Ians vaults ;)

I really don't care for outtakes, those are for box sets, the albums must be listened as they were originally tecorded, there was a reason for that and it's how it's ment to be.

And please, lets stop advertising our sites in Prog Archives, it is not honest IMO, it's like placing Burger's King propaganda in Mc'Donalds as someone said on another thread.

the outtakes are better songs than half the album songs, so why would u not like them? lol.

Because I like the things in the way the author created them.

Nobody denies The Lamb Live in Archives I sounds much better than the original live recording (Gabriel couldn't almost be listened with the Slippery Man costume), but I'm sure a lot of people would have preferred this album without any overdubbing.

Maybe Mr Anderson wasn't great at deciding what songs to choose for albums. He had enough material to make a classic on several occasions but he decided to tone the albums down with more simple songs. This is the reason why I do not neglect any Jethro Tull album rejects. Because in this case they are not rejects. In most cases a band will make an album as strong as possible, but in Jethro's case, they show glimpes of greatness with their albums and tease fans. If only they saved the very best for each album, they would much more talked about and deservedly so. I updated all my albums to remastered cd and I have discovered many great songs for the first time. I have all remaster cd albums from This was to Crest of a knave. I also upgraded rock island to Christmas island to cd and I picked up Living in the past and Nightcap on cd and I am still missing a handfull of songs . Not even my beloved Genesis have this many good songs
