definitely. when my dad took me to school when I was kid, he used to
have all these Yes, Genesis, Chicago, Phil Collins, Bon Jovi (the
old stuff) CDs playing in the car :D

I listen to prog thanks to my father & my mother for introducing me to King Crimson, Van der Graaf Generator, Genesis, Gentle Giant, Yes, etc .. all i have done from there is research and discover new and great bands ..

My parents weren't very much into music, but my father listened opera, and I found some Beatles tapes from my mother, which I listened as a kid. "Yellow submarine" film introduced me into psychedelia at least!

Oh yes it has. Very much. Without my parents' albums, I would probably
still be that god damn Linkin Park-fan. (DON'T HIT ME! It was a long
time ago... Fortunately.) I've always had a weird taste of music. I was
listening to some of those MTV-sellout bands (well, not the worst ones,
but I believe Linkin Park is a good example), but I also liked bands
like Eagles and Neil Young, thanks to my Dad and his albums.
But I'm glad I was awekened for about two years ago!

I will say that Johnny Cash stood the test of time though, and Roger Miller was actually a pretty interesting human being. I still love a lot of Woodie Guthrie's music.
My sons all listen to some of the same stuff I do though - Kansas, Yes, Genesis, Alan Parsons, Floyd, Ayreon, Asia, and some newer stuff like Fates Warning, Azure Ray, Gordian Knot, Mostly Autumn, Opeth, lots more. One of my kids even contributes from time to time on this forum (bet you can't figure out who he is - no fair checking IP's if you're an admin ). His band is even has some tunes that sound a lot like Uriah Heep. So I guess it's possible to influence your kid's musical tastes somewhat. It's actually pretty easy - just expose them to great music, and they're liable to dig at least some of it.

Only The Doors.. because my father listens to them... but i dont think so.. in fact my fahter almost hates prog music
My mother used to hear pop music, but she likes Pink Floyd because of me

nope! my dad thought i was a devil worshipper when he found out i listened to black metal.
yet..when i played burzum's keyboard instrumental album, Hllidskjalf he actually liked it. He might not like it if I told him Burzum's whole story, heh.
Yet my dad was listenting to pink floyd before i even knew what prog was.

I wasn't influenced by my parents' taste in music at all - my Dad liked
classical and my Mum liked Johnny Mathis. Most of my taste in music
comes from my sisters, who liked The Beatles in the 60s and got me into
prog by bringing home Genesis and BJH albums.

My fathers used to listen a lot of Beatles, MPB (brazilian folk music) and some erudite music, mainly romantic. Although what really caught me to rock was the Pink Floyd (discovered by myself), I love the Beatles and listen classical music to this day, but more baroque than romantic. So I think they have a influence in my musical taste, but not determine it.

Yes, because I was exposed to many different genres (rock, including
prog, jazz, blues, classical etc.) and bands at a very young age, so at
least it made me open-minded towards all music. My parents like prog,
but are not into it as heavily as I am. However, I discovered prog with
a little help from my friend , and my parents had nothing to do with that.
But I'm sure the stuff they listened to had a big impact on me.

yes. my dad particularly liked fusion lke mahavishnu. Birds of fire was my favorite when i was younger. He took to my first prog concert when i was around ten which was rush. lord knows what id be listening to right now if it wasnt for him.

I don't ever remember my dad showing even the slightest interest in music as I was growing up. I know he hated the stuff I was listening to.
My mom, on the other hand, was pretty cool for someone born in the 1930s. She totally supported my musical interests, got my dad to buy me a drum set (which I couldn't play when he was home), & bought me a lot of records. First single: Satisfaction by the Stones. First Real Album: Wheels of Fire by Cream (before that, it was the Monkees). She loved CCR, The Allman Brothers, & Uriah Heep. She even listened to our Grand Funk & Black Sabbath records!
So to answer your question, No & Yes.
