What is your favorite Jethro Tull Studio Album?
Strangers passing in the street by chance two separate glances meet and I am you and what I see is me. And do I take you by the hand and lead you through the land and help me understand the best I can

TAAB

Or Actually Minstreal

Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

Thick As A Brick. I saw JT way back in 1972 right after TAAB came out. Blew the then-19 year old me away!

I've actually only heard Aqualung and Thick As A Brick, but I don't think any of the other albums will find a place in my heart such as Thick As A Brick did.  It is certainly one of my favourite albums ever, it completely blew me away in a way that no other album had done since I got my first real listening to The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (my first listening was to a very scratched LP which made it almost hopeless to appreciate it). After I had heard it, I quickly got myself Aqualung, since it was supposedly their other most brightly shining album, but after Thick As A Brick, I was actually a bit disappointed in Aqualung. Since then, Aqualung has grown in my ears, but it still doesn't come near to Thick As A Brick, which up  to now lies beaten only by the classic Genesis albums, and it isn't as much a second place as a tie.

I am looking forward to getting the rest of the Jethro Tull albums as well.

of course thick as a brick is the best album, but I believe that Tull were equally strong in many years. 1971 had close to 20 songs, some from Aqualung and Living in the past are excellent and there are other excellent outtakes on the Aqualung remaster too, while there are great remixes of songs like Life is a long song. Also we have Heavy horses which is very good, but you also have excellent additional songs like A stitch in time, Blues instrumental and Beltane from 1978. So 1978 is as good as Thick as a brick. I can say the same for Stormwatch which has several top songs and it has great outtakes like King henrys madrigal, Crosword and Kelpie. 1999 is another great year. Dotcom has some excellent tunes and the outtake It all trickles down is very good. So Thick as a brick is definately matched by at least 4 other Tull album sessions. It's just that, not all the best songs were chosen for those original albums. Songs from the wood isn't far behind, while the 8 excellent Warchild outtakes turn a once medicore album into one of Tulls strongest years
