IMO they may have some prog charateristics but for me their far from prog. However why not discuss about them in PA?

I don't know Eden Bridge, but SOAD are an easy one to answer; They have a unique style, but that is not Prog Rock. Their newer material is more "fun" than art, and, most importantly, generic song structures with little or no experimentation in form, rhythm, timbre or harmony Their sense of melody is refreshingly different - and the quality of vocals is excellent. Everything else is just an original appraoch to metal - not a progressive approach.
Emporer are inferior (technically, progressively and in general songwriting abilities) in just about every concievable way to Cradle of Filth - there's almost no comparison. |

Yea as you have pointed out Cradle of filth is a band with a vocalist that cant sing and cant make songs....BUT iron maiden is the favourite band for atleast 3 of the members of cradle of filth and COF has covered maiden 7 times...and they sound really awfull each time Although they would never grasp the complexity of maiden they show quite some influence of them |

How? Emperor released one of the greatest (metal) albums of all time as total teenagers - they were under 18 at the time. So what have Cradle of Filth done? Not even a single good album. |

CoF make some really theatrical music with a very cohesive flow to it. Oh, and just to piss Logos off (if he doesn't know this one already) |

I can't say I've heard very much Cradle of Filth, but are they really anything like so diverse as Emperor's Prometheus album? There's often a death metal riff, or a bit of NWOBHM sounding stuff, and even one or two jigs on that record, as well as the pseudo symphonic elements that crop up from time to time. I'm not saying CoF don't do that, but I've never heard any evidence of it. Having said that, I'm not sure that I want to either ![]() |

Emperor's debut, whilst impressive in itself, for such young musicians, is not as impressive to my ears as the earliest CoF material (from roughly the same time, if I remember correctly). The structuring and riffing is loose and naive, while CoF were tight and focussed. I'm not even going to comment on "complexities" or time signatures, as those have precious little to do with prog. To my ears, CoF have yet to release an album that is not good. |
