Topic: ANY PSYCHOTIC WALTZ FAN? Posted: December 13 2005 at 16:24 |
I really love this band and everything it produced
unfortunately it's not active and will never be again as Dan Rock informed me
anyway, I think this band created a prog genre of its own, sth like dark prog metal, but
they sound completely unique. My fav album is BLEEDING, as the most mature.
I also like Darkstar (Dan's project, also inactive) and everything Buddy Lackey has done
including Dead Soul Tribe, but IMO they are a level down than P.WALTZ
YOUR opinions......................

You've got my vote Aapatsos
I also like Psychotic Waltz and everything the members of this great ( one of the greatest ) Prog Metal band did. Of course, nothing of the releases afterwards were of the level of Psychotic Waltz, but I'm happy with the bands that sprung from the break up of PW. Dead Soul Tribe and Dark Star I also like just because in some way you can sense some PW influences in it, but still they are very unique sounding. Buddey Lackey aka Devon Graves is one of my favourite vocalists!
p.s= I was afraid that no one on this site would ever start a PW or DST thread ( Or I missed them, if so, excuse me )
I'm seeing DST soon in Holland! Can't wait!
greetings.

I love Psychotic Waltz,I think they were a great early prog metal band.I prefer the A Social Grace and Into the Everflow albums over Bleeding, though.
And I don't think Dead Soul Tribe is a step down for Devon Graves/Buddy Lackey at all.

I'm kind of cold on Dead Soul Tribe... sounds like Tool-lite to me, and far less interesting, although maybe I should give it another shot as it's been a while since I last listened to one of their albums.
Now Psychotic Waltz I LOOOVE. Their debut is my favorite, with Into the Everflow coming in at a close second. Mosquito is also an excellent album, and Bleeding is very good as well. Personally I think they got a little worse from album to album as they went along, but they're all proudly displayed in my collection.

A few things.
I love them also.
I cannot decide if I like " Into the Everflow" or " Bleeding" the best.
I am sad they are gone I do not think Dead Soul Tribe (they sound like tool) or Norm Leggio's Teabag measure up.
Check out the band unique progressive metal band Mekong Delta. Band leader Ralph Hubert produced Into the Everflow.
I recently bought some cds by bands that have Psychotic Waltz Members. Crash Musuem, End Amen, and Buddy Lackey. The End Amen is awesome, I am still waiting for the other 2 to arrive. I will post my impressions here.

Buddy Lackey's personal is quite nice. End Amen must be very good, as a friend told me.
Mekong Delta are PERFECT
But, Progtologist, I still believe that DST cannot be compared to the quality of PW.
They produce good music (their first is my fav) but... anyway, different opinions

I can understand why you like the first two.
I love bleeding maybe because it was my first one, and because is soooo heavy!
DST are very good, but not EXCEPTIONAL as PW were IMO

It is hard to believe they released their last cd about 10 years ago. I can't imagine anyone liking Dead Sould Tribe better, but obviously some do.

Psychotic Waltz are my heroes in prog. metal. They sounded like no other band in the subgenre.
I especially love their first two albums.
It's a sad thing that this band doesn't exist anymore and they never got wider recognition.
