Rush - Working Man (this one was easy)
Fly By Night - By-Tor and the Snowdog
Caress of Steel - The Fountain of Lamneth (though The Necromancer is very close)
2112 - 2112 of course.
A Farewell to Kings - Xanadu (but Cygnus X-1 comes really close)
Hemispheres - La Villa Strangiato
Permanent Waves - Freewill (solo section is absolutely amazing by all three, Natural Science is close)
Moving Pictures - YYZ
Signals - this is really hard... Losing It, The Weapon, Chemistry, Digital Man...
Grace Under Pressure - Between the Wheels, Kid Gloves
Power Windows - Emotion Detector, Territories
Hold Your Fire - Open Secrets, Mission
Presto - Show Don't Tell, War Paint, The Pass, Presto
Roll the Bones - Ghost of a Chance, Bravado, Where's My Thing
Counterparts - This is also really hard, Alien Shore, Double Agent, Between the Sun and Moon...
Test for Echo - Time and Motion, Test for Echo, Driven, Totem, Resist....
Vapor Trails - Ceiling Unlimited, Stars Look Down, Secret Touch
Feedback - Heart Full of Soul, Crossroads

Live Albums

All the World's a Stage - By-Tor and the Snowdog (ALex is great on this track)
Exit..Stage Left - La Villa Strangiato (Perhaps Alex's fastest recorded performance)
A show of Hands - Mission (Alex's extended solo is one of his best)
Different Stages - 2112 in its entirety
Rush in Rio - Secret Touch, sounds so much better than the poorly master studio version
R30 - Subdivisions, they performed it flawlessly and Alex's guitar and louder and crunchier

As you can see picking one favorite Rush song per album is extremely difficult if not impossible... for some of us anyway

The band also seem not to like 'In The Mood'. They once remarked something like 'We wrote In The Mood quickly- the bad ones are always quick to write' in an issue of Classic Rock I have. I similarly think it's the poorest song on their otherwise fine debut.

Fly By Night:  By-Tor and the Snow Dog (I love Pearts mini solos)

Caress of Steel: The Necromancer (about LOTR and band members perform wonderfully in all areas)

2112:  I wonder....(2112 in case you don't know RUSH very well)

A Farewell to Kings:  Xanadu

Hemispheres: La Villa Strangiato (the best piece of music they ever created)

Permanent Waves:  Jacobs Ladder (gotta love that tricky time signature in the middle)

Moving Pictures: YYZ

Signals: Subdivisions

Grace Under Pressure: Distant Early Warning

Power Windows:  Either Manhattan Project or The Big Money

Hold Your Fire:  Mission

Presto:  Can't really say I love any songs on this record, but I'd have to say Anagram for Mongo is the one I like the most
