Topic: The Once and Future Poll Posted: December 07 2005 at 15:38 |
Okay, these are the four most debated bands I see on this forum, now I force you to pick your favorite of the three and tell me why. Personally I pick them in this order:
The Mars Volta (10/10)
Dredg (9/10)
Tool (5/10)
Dream Theater (3/10)
Because the Mars Volta is more innovative and original than any of these "modern" bands. You have two from Art Rock and two from Prog Metal...which is the greater?

I picked the Mars Volta because of their prog and excessiveness ! I
like most bands who are over the top and boisterous (A.C.T for
example). Although Tool is a close second, but the only problem with
Tool is that sometimes it can make me drowsy, but this is not a
negative thing...it is just I prefer more bombastic music.
The Mars Volta 9/10
Tool 8.999/10
Dredg 7.5/10 I'm really growing on this band though.
Dream Theater 7/10

I picked TMV because they are the most progressive and new and interesting.

Dredg - 8/10 a good mix of alternative and prog and very accecible
Tool - 5/10 I only have aenima and found it good but too much filler
Dream Theater - 8/10 still trying to keep prog alive and accecible for metal fans

I picked Dream Theater, okay their not inovative but their musicianship is unbeaten by any other modern band. TMV is a close second.

Dredg has a weird sound, but if you're into only "noisy" stuff right now they won't do it for you...but they are awesome.
