The Bible: A decent read, altough 400 pages to long, and talk about preachy!
The begining is great and the ending's a shocker (altough a little vague at times) but the middle section drags a little and the whole package tends to be a bit contradictory.
I esepecialy liked the violent bits and the whole 2-part gimick.
Overall a nice work of fiction.
I give it two and a half stars of five, knocking  a half of for it's sexist, homophobic and anti-semitic undertones.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Yes, I own a few different versions. I'm not much of a reader, so I'm not familiar with the whole thing, but I do believe it.

Phil... Collins?

Bible? Yes, I own one, which was given to me by my religious cousin. I started to read it soon afterwards, but never finished it. However, I think it's very interesting, because there aren't many books capable of creating such mixed feelings in me. I intend to read it cover to cover some time.

I have a couple of versions - went to read it in my teens, but became bogged down in the language (I think I know now where George Lucas got Yoda's syntax from ), so I bought a modern language version. The problem with this was the only one I could find was one called "The New World Translation", published by the Jehovah's Witnesses; sure, it was modern English, but it became obvious early on that many of the meanings had been changed in subtle ways .

I went back to the 'classic' version & although it took a while, eventually read it cover to cover...

That God chap - he can be a bit grumpy sometimes, can't he?

His Son seemed pretty cool, though - long hair, kaftan, casual sandals, saying everyone should be nice to each other - dunno what all the fuss was about

Bibles in America are black?

I only own the New Testament

Hence the lyric "Starless and bible black"

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

I do. Its in six point font. But I'm nearsighted, so it's OK. I read it sometimes. Ecclesiates is my favorite book. It almost has an anti-christian fealing to it, but that is only do to our distorted view of what christianity is. Damn you Joel Osteen!
