I'm 15 (for about 2 more weeks) and my taste is pretty varied, I don't really stick to a genre.
My favorite prog bands are: Porcupine Tree (space), Pink Floyd (space), Rush (Art-Rock), The Mars Volta (Art-Rock), Opeth (Prog-Metal), Dream Theater (Prog-Metal), Yes (Symphonic), King Crimson (Symphonic), Blackfield (Symphonic, althought I think they are more space), Captain Beefheart (Avant), Jethro Tull (folk)
Prog Related: Queen, Primus, Muse
Those are just my favorites, which I listen to on a regular basis, others I like aswell are VDGG, Genesis, Ulver, Tool, Spock's Beard, Supertramp, LTE, Flower Kings

16, mostly RIO/Avant-garde (Mr. Bungle, Captain Beefheart), Symphonic prog (all the major bands, in a cycle almost), and whatever else. It doesn't really matter, I like Robert Wyatt and Pink Floyd and Gong too, but then I haven't heard much in their genre. I don't particularly like prog metal, but I like some Dream Theater. But I usually can't stand just pure metal...I like variations and fusions. Jazz-metal anyone? Psych-metal? RIO-metal? Surf-jazz-ska-classical-Indian-metal? I'm there.

If I can only pick 2 sub-genres I would go with
1. Prog metal
2. Art rock

Most of my fave bands belong to Symphonic and Prog. Metal.
I don't really stick to genres though.
