That is certanly true for me (33yo). I have brothers 12-16 years older. When I was 16 and listened to GG, Genesis and Yes, people said that prog is dead, you were born ten years to late ;)

That's true that a lot of younger people here mention having first heard it in their dad's collection. I play it around my kids a lot, and they bop their heads to it, but mainly consume 50 Cents and commercial hip hop, because that's what their friends are into...most people start listening to music to belong to a peer group. Kids into prog show intelligence, in that it's not pushed as cool in the media or by their friends. I'm 47 by the way.

I,m 21 and Prog-metal is not my favourite. I rather like Symphonic, Canterbury and Space Rock.

That might be the case for the majority but my favorite style of prog is
symphonic. I found progressive music through Dream Theater and Yes
(discovering them through liking classic rock, not prog.) That's why my
name is FragileDT giving tribute to my first (and life changing) Yes album
and Dream Theater. Now my favorite band, by a long shot, is genesis and
it has been for some time now.

But glittering prizes
And endless Compromises
Shatter the illusion
