Can I suggest any further discussion on the Muse reviews is moved to the Collaborators section.

I wasn't looking to attack anyone and I don't wish to discuss it - the point here is to raise concerns over the reviews, and I think the comments I made were valid - as you seem to agree, Bob.

I wasn't saying they were bad reviews, in fact, on the whole I enjoyed reading them, and I apologise for my bad spelling .

However, I was hoping that you would at least acknowledge that some of the comments went a bit too far over the line and set a bad example for other reviewers, Hughes. Your highly defensive reply would indicate that maybe I've touched a nerve?

Fair's fair - mea culpa - if I go too far in my reviews and break the guidelines, then I expect to be  picked up on it, (as opposed to "picked on", which is emphatically NOT what is happening here) - and not dispute the guidelines that all agreed to in principle. If you think my comments are inappropriate, I will edit them out - does that seem fair?

Any disputes over the guidelines should be raised in an appropriate area.

But here is an appropriate place for raising concerns over reviews.

...and you should know me by now, Hughes - I NEVER give up...

Your highly defensive?!? reply would indicate that maybe I've touched a nerve? I think my fefence was humourous and had a ring of proper answer towards your exhibits as if we were in a court of law!! But my attack on your review was an eye for an eye (as well as a fair game)!! Maybe that was a bit defensive!!

If you think my comments are inappropriate, I will edit them out - does that seem fair? I actually do not care about editing your comments in your review because I sort of agree that people have a tendency in rating without reviewing, but it is a fair game not to like an album and not state why if you feel you cannot be polite while expressing your opinion. Better stars without reviews than insulting reviews with stars!

But I do care about my opnions being respected even if not agreed with!! and here , why should you consider I fought yours since in fact I agree with you in a general sense?

I do agree with Bob that this should go on in via PM or in colla zone or else what kind of message are we sending to others????!

Taken offline - but the point remains (and I hold my hand up for being just as guilty) that we have guidelines for reviews, and an ideal review not only respects others, but the site guidelines too.

One day, I hope to write an ideal review...

I apologise again for having singled your review out, Hughes - to be honest, it could have been anyone's review that I picked up on, it was simply that I noticed that one first.

Thanks to this exchange, my attention has been drawn to the same issues in my own reviews - so I can address those appropriately, as well as future reviews, and hopefully others will think about (and maybe even read ) the guidelines when creating their own reviews.

I think this is a good message to send out

^^ "...I love it all!! Just not this crap. I really don't care who I offend, 'cause if you think this is music, your heads probably so far up your butt, you won't be able to read this anyway!"

Not very appropriate language for a review, offending others... IMO

Is this bad English or what?

CAN Future Days
Review (Permanent link) by Braindamage @ 5:48:12 AM EST, 7/14/2005

— Essential. a masterpiece of progressive music. This album "Future Days" that CAN announced in 1973 is a work of the transition period. It is the work of the recommendation in a person not good at German Rock because there is noisy neither or a difficult part. They were searching for an untrodden area.

Sigh, thanks Seyo!
"Death to Utopia! Death to faith! Death to love! Death to hope?" thunders the 20th century. "Surrender, you pathetic dreamer.”

"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."

DREAM THEATER "A Change Of Seasons "
Review (Permanent link) by Igor
Posted 7:42:55 AM EST, 12/4/2005

5 stars   I cant bealive that this album is soo underrated... This is one of the most important Dream Theater albums. This is DTs "the album" , because it pefetcly reflects the style that DT has. It is the second song i heard from DT , but the most worthy one. I would also like to add that this is the far most emotional album DT will ever had... If you havent lisened to this album than you dont know nothing about progressive metal.

  • First, it's not an album, it'a a EP
  • Second, this review is also fanboyish!
  • Third, he attacks the reader with: If you havent lisened to this album than you dont know nothing about progressive metal.

 Delete!
