Topic: ELP or King Crimson? Posted: December 02 2005 at 09:39 |
I think this would be interesting to know. Would you have rathered ELP to
have never existed and continued Lake with the original Crimson lineup
(with the risk of Fripp ending it at any point.) Or would you rather have Lake
quit Crimson to join ELP and live out the ELP career just as they did?

ELP without Lake, with maybe Jack Bruce or a young John Wetton. Could have been very interesting.

I agree. Otherwise no Crimson 73/74 line up, and of course, no ELP.

According to Keith Emerson's autobiography, he approached Chris Squire before he teamed up with Greg Lake.

Yeah, I'm surprised. I thought there were a lot more big early King Crimson
fans. I myself would like to have ELP outlive their career since I like them and
love the Wetton Bruford era of Crimson.

fascinating.... Jack Bruce and Keith Emerson. I could just hear
that Gibson bass 'honking' along with Emerson and Palmer.
Maybe a more jazz-oriented ELP, wouid have loved
that. Especially if Hendrix would have lived and (maybe if
rumours/scuttlebutt were true) joined them.

If King Crimson had mantained their original lineup they wouldn't
become what later they became (in fact I prefer Lark's tongues in aspic
to In the court of the crimson king), and even Elp! It's impossible to
think Elp without Lake's vocals or Basslines! So...I like things
as they are...
