The formation of Electric Light Orchestra was initiated by Roy Wood who was a member of The Move before.

Hamburg was also the place where The Beatles in their early days had massive success at a location called The Star Club.

The Beatles brought out what was arguably the first progressive rock album with the 1967 release "Sgt. Pepper's Lonley Hearts Club Band".

In April 1967 Pink Floyd played
the "14 Hour Technicolor Dream" extravaganza at Alexandra Palace. The
footage just now released on DVD includes performances art by Yoko Ono
and a Sgt. Pepper-era John Lennon taking in the festival.

Also Sam Gopal Dream played at the very same gig, this band featured a young Ian "Lemmy" kilminster of Hawkwind / Motorhead fame.

"Rubber Soul" was one of three albums the Beatles were able to get to number one in the British album charts in 1965. The other were "Beatles For Sale" and "Help".
