SPECIAL COLLABORATION
2 stars  —  2,5 stars really!!!

OK ! So they are back! So what, you ask? This will allow them to make world tours and Live albums. Actually if this is not that a good record , I am very HAPPY that they did get back just for the sake of Peart's personal tragedies (who had lost a wife and daughter) and the fact that this had put Rush's career on hold so long. Nice to see them back in shape and it warms me very much to hear that Peart still has all of his great talent.

As for the album , we have here one of the hardest sounding Rush album a bit in the vein of the previous Test For Echoes , but in this one there is a sense of energy and urgency/spontaneity I found absent in a lot of 90's Rush releases. But by all means , this first hour fan is still not convinced by such records , although I am awed that these guys are still playing so tight. Lifeson's ever present guitar riffs fills out this album and the keyboards have it seems definitely a lesser role than in their 80's albums which were defintely not much to my tastes!

A return to form!

Was mentioning Neil's tragedies at ALL pertinent to the review of the album?  No, I think not.  To prove it, I want to post this as well...
4 - Write in an intelligent and considerate manner. Rude or insulting language (including blatant vulgarity) will not be tolerated! Show respect for other reviewers, readers, the artists, and the CD and song titles. Do not belittle reviews posted by others, their opinions are as welcome and valid as yours. It is generally best to avoid commenting on other reviews altogether.

Tell me something...how can his comments NOT be rude and insulting?  Check out that 1st paragraph.

As far as my being "selective"...darn right!  It wasn't me who posted the guidelines, but it's me and other people who get nailed if the guidelines are broken.

Time for me to come to the bar , your honour and write off exhibit C as complete rubbish, by someone wanting to justify himself by blaming others!

Your honour , I do not read one single ounce of disrespect in the review in this so called exhibit C> The fact that personal tragedies are mentioned are not as a show of insult or lack of respect but put forth as explanation of why Rush was so long in between two albums> the writer does say he is happy they are if only for the drummer to be getting over his personal tragedies. In which way does this review insult?

The fact that the record in itself is not that good is an appraisal and this is what reviewing is all about

Rush played in my High School once and I was a total Rush fan until Hemispheres , losing all interest by Signals> Just because your tastes do not fit mine does not make the other's review invalid.

I hope I made a case for this attack be dropped immediately from court and other attacks on other reviewers also> Tony and Gatot make very valid reviews>

Only I still have a few pre-guidelines reviews still cringesome (for me included) , but this one is no more!

5 stars   Excellent i love this album makes me wanna live in the land of grey and pink and smoke that weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed all day and night

a must listen too people brilliant 5 out of 5 stars

amazing vocals/lyrics and instrumental pieces

buy it or die hahahhahahahahaha

What the hell is THAT?

I think it is  a reference to the title track and the lyrics going in the form (roughly) of

Sailing Sea Green

get to the land where the punk weed grows

just bend down and smoke it till it bleeds

This album is certainly lovely if you care to read the lyrics. Hastings was not the only one with a sense of humour in that band!

BRIAN* ENO Here Come The Warm Jets
Review (Permanent link) by BELVA @ 6:49:36 AM EST, 5/22/2005

4 stars  —  The first solo Eno album was still "glammish": you can see it from the wonderful, decadent cover with Eno dressed like a queer, kitschy objects everywere and a postcard with a woman pissing. DECADENCE plus electronics: what a wonderful mixture. So "Needles in the camels eye", probably THE glam anthem (have you ever seen Velvet Goldmine? No? DO IT NOW!!!) , is sung by a drunken Eno puking lyrics over simplicistc (and punkish) bass lines. IT'S IDIOT ENERGY: stupid lyircs with plastic synths creating the most ironic pieces ever, still enjoyable though. The Paw Paw Negro Blowtorch is actually more than that, with some cacophony trowed out but our synth hero, little electronic animals screaming, that bring us to "Bayb's on fire". This is surely Eno's first masterpiece. How to mix demented (not so much in this case I see methaphors) lyrics in some scaring music, crating a STRONG CONTRAST of emotions. Fripp solo is RUTHLESS, with a guitar slowly transforming in a noise machine thanks to Eno's drugs. A great piece, this was 1973 guys, there were still commercial-Hippies listening to Pink Floyd (and thinking it was avant garde),while Eno was exploring New Wave concepts. Wow. Anyway Cindy Tells me is a nice, nice song, sad decadent feeling, while Driving Me backwards is a THREATHENING, NON STOP FEAR, Eno's voice registered like it was singing backwards, very scary ( the glam movement was TRUELY scaring the w.a.s.p society, not just barely shaking kids like Punk did). On some faraway beach is excessive, synths are so commercially used (on purpose of course we are not talking about Dream Theater) that the sweeteness becomes comedy.Blank Frank is fast paced Frippy screams, while dead Finks , Eno's first solo track, boast some FUNNY, FUNNNY lyrics. Just download them in a Eno site. Some of them are old is nothing really special, but "Here Come the Warm Jets " is: warm jets guitars, overlapping, repeating, it's the opening of a new musical season called "Eno".

His exploration started in the best way, he knew synth and electronic could be considered art or a pile of garbage respect "jazz" and "classical" music. So he constantly boosted the contrast between art and pop, melody and machinery noise, idiot rock lyrics and poetry.

A good piece of modern popular music. Do try it.

Yikes...makes me wonder if it's a review or a description of a weird porn movie.  Would this be considered inappropriate?

You must know that this BELVA character was booted from the forum for posting alledged child pornography, although I never saw the said pictures (nor do I wish too) so the man probably has a strong fixation on the sex subject> Frequently happens when one is not getting enough of it!!

As for his review, aside from the comment of eno dressing like a quee(n)r, this review seems fit enough to stay> And looking at Eno's pictures of the era (especially in Roxy Music), he sure did dress like a Q........

Easy Livin will probably fix it!

I speak Spanish, but this is still inappropriate.

I speak Spanish, but this is still inappropriate.

Not Spanish even, it's only crap with no sense al all. If I saw a good review in Spanish I would offer the guy to translate it, but this is badly written trash, that's all.

This a$$hole ends his review sending greetings to his friends, please delete it.

Iván

Yes, he was an interesting and colorful person... until he started whining about forum decadence and the "children", and almost stopped posting

You all know that I'm an early Genesis fan, and I love to see highratings for my favorite band, but..........:

5 stars   Most overrated masterpiece of progressive rock!

I think this album is at the same line as Close to the edge, which is overrated but still a great album. What comes to the songs. They all are a bit slow compared to later genesis' agressive style. Just listen to the songs more. the only problem you will face is the quality.

  1. Doesn't say a damn thing about the music exept that in his opinion is slow (The Knife or White Mountain are slow?)
  2. The guy is not consistent, he said Trespass is overrated but gives 5 stars???????? Holy Sh!t, how many stars will this guygive to real masterpieces?
  3. At the same line of Close to the Edge????? Please somebody knows ho to translate crap to English?

I believe should be deleted.

Childish behaviour of some members got to Peter's morale but also wearyness of the forum - Danbo and him were the first members.

Peter is a wholesome character with stromg moral principle and a huge sense of humour, but he took things a bit too much at heart.

He will return now and again until he sets his personal life situation back to SNAFU conditions.

But I do miss his colourful posts too!!!!

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

The funniest thing about the review is that he opens with: Most overrated masterpiece of progressive rock! and gives it five stars......im sure he meant underrated but still pretty funny
