I know they are not 'pop' songs in the truest sense, but I believe the bands wrote those songs with commercial intent. Probably from pressure from their respective record companies to write a chart hit! Below is a list of obvious choices that I can think of! |

Closer to the Heart by Rush is one of my favorite songs by them, so I
voted for it. Spirit of the Radio is also good, but CttH is just
more enjoyable to me. I Know What I Like is probably my second
favorite on the list.

Here I was expecting to say something like "Golf girl" or a random
Spock's Beard song. Instead, you give me Killer Queen, Pull me under
and Spirit of radio? What a joke.

Spirit Of radio for me. Although it's not that 'pop'.

Counting Out Time should have made the poll, I'd have gone with that.

I voted Hocus Pocus cause no one had yet, but Carpet Crawlers is a great song too.
Actually, I think besides the songs up there that I haven't heard, the only one I don't like is Owner of a Lonely Heart. Yuck. |

I voted for Closer To The Heart, but I have another suggestion: Julia Dream by Pink Floyd would be a killer pop song...

What about the "single that never was"? i.e. album tracks that were never released as singles but could/should have been.
I have a nomination for that: Reaching Out on All Sides by IF. That should have been a single by all rights. It is a fantastic prog song and short enough to have been a single. |

None of those - probably "Memories" by EARTH & FIRE or "Back Street
Luv" by CURVED AIR. |
