I love his solo works. He is a very, very talented guitarist. His
personal life is kinda funny. He went from a unknow teenager to the
guitarist of one of the most famous band in the world, Red Hot Chili
Peppers. And then, he recorded 2 albums with them, and quit the band
(he pissed off really bad the other members doing so). Then he spent
all the money he got with heroin, and went back to the obscurity. He
almost f*ckin died, but Dave Navarro, who was in RHCP filling his
shoes, got off the band. So he came back do RHCP, they sold even more
records, he got hell of lot of money, and came to date the HOT Milla
Jovovich. I don't if he's a lucky guy or not. But he's very talented.
Just hear the solo of Parallel Universe, you can hear he saying to
David Gilmour "here you f*cker, this is the way to make a solo with
effect". Frusciante is 'my biggest influence' on the guitar. But, this
topic isn't about his works with rhcp, but his solo works... Btw,
here's his discography as a solo artist (including the Ataxia job).
Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt (1995) Smile From the Streets You Hold (1997) To Record Only Water for Ten Days (2001) From The Sounds Inside (2001) Shadows Collide With People (2004) The Will to Death (2004) Ataxia - Automatic Writing (2004) DC EP (2004) Inside of Emptiness (2004) A Sphere in the Heart of Silence (2004) Curtains (2004) 7 f*ckin great albums only in 2004. Many bands don't release this in 10 years. I mean, they are all frighteningly in the same level. They're equally great, and different (Inside of Emptiness is raw, while Shadows Collide With People is a 'ballad album', etc). My favorite is To Record Only Water for Ten Days, but there ain't a bad album (From The Sounds Inside is downloadable only, on his site). Great stuff, what d'yall think about? |

To Record Only... is a totally awesome album! And Fru is totally great! Although his albums sound a bit demo-like and raw... Plus they are darn minimalistyc... but when I'm in the correct mood.... love his stuff! I have From the Sounds inside and its one of the best free albums ever!

Yeah, From The Sounds Inside is the best free album I ever heard. It's a real gift to his fans, really great.

I liked that a bunch, burned it to a CD so I can listen to it whenever. In addition to that, he released some demos and acoustic versions of one of his albums, which I downloaded as well, still haven't listened to. The free album was a treat. I'm hoping to buy something of his sometime, I haven't heard anything other than the free album. About RHCP, I nearly have their full discography. |

Niandra lades and usually just a t shirt is absolutely incredible and IMO beats anything the RHCPs have ever done. A must for beefheart fans |
