No Lifeson? No Zappa? I guess Robert Fripp, then.

Steve Howe, Steve Hacket and Andy Latimer are my favourites.

Steve Morse is ignored, but listen once "Guitar Solo" ...

Has to be Gilmour. You should consider the fact that although he used many effects, which arguably detracts from the true sound of the guitar, Gilmour was more than able to produce sounds from his guitar many others cannot. The pure emotion that comes through in his songs contributes greatly to any message Pink Floyd were trying to get across in any given song.

Excluding Jimi Hendrix who is POP guitarist and will not included on this opinion poll

The vote goes to Robert Fripp. The blueprint for Steve Hackett's guitar phrasing, as dextorus as Steve Howe, the speed to match speedsters like Blackmore (ohh sorry he's a Metal guitarist) and visionary beyond his years and as soulful as David Gilmour or Andrew Latimer....

2. Steve Hackett my overall favorite Prog guitarist, expanded on his Fripp influence, and became a true innovator and a phenomenal guitarist.

3. Andrew Latimer-The link between the ambient phrasing of Steve Hackett and the soul piercing soloing of David Gilmour.

4. Steve Howe-a dextorus guitarist who skill and mastery of playing in every situation is without peer....

5. Frank Zappa-It's crimainal how underated Frank's guitar skills are amongst the public......

Charles

G'day

Hendrix is the best. My FAVORITE one HERE is Hackett, who is my favorite prog guitarist all-out.
