Hi,
By way of introduction I thought I'd tell you all how I came to be such a fiend for prog. My mother raised me to be a classical musician...endless piano and vocal music lessons, lots of tickets for the symphony, etc. The stuff my friends listened to on the radio seemed so...simple. When I was sixteen I acquired a boyfriend who was twenty-three and the keyboardist in a regionally successful band. I spent the next several years being hand-fed illegal substances while listening to the likes of Gentle Giant, Tull, Return to Forever, and King Crimson (and many more) on their performance speaker stacks...set up in their living room. I think it's fair to say I was "programmed". LOL!!! To this day, nothing, nothing, pleases me like Gentle Giant (although I do enjoy a lot of music). To this day, I beg and bargain with my friends to give GG a listen and they just look at me like I'm a lunatic when they hear it. Even those that love Genesis or Tull for instance. The release of the remastered 35th ann. editions has been just wonderful. Someone recently recommended this site to me. What an education! Although I've been listening to a great many of the bands so carefully outlined and categorized here for thirty years, I had no idea so much love and care has gone into analyzing it all. I'm sure I'll return again and again. I even have hopes of discovering new bands I'll really come to enjoy. :)
