Prog song for your funeral

If it has to be a prog song I'd probably go for "And You And I", there'd be floods of tears by the end. It's a bit long for everyone to sit through though, so the song I really want is Electrolyte by REM, because it's short, happy-sounding and ends with the words "I'm not scared, I'm out of here".

I think for the sake of the guests it'd have to be something short & sweet so they could get out to the wake. I'd rather they remembered me for putting on a good spread than saying "Do you remember old Phils funeral and that bloody cr*p music we had to sit through?"

I used to sing in a church choir and at weddings (different I know)  whenever someone picked a piece of music that wasn't traditional we all groaned because usually, it just didn't work....(please no, not Morning Has Broken by Cat Stevens again! oh no, not Amazing Grace on bagpipes!). Somehow only traditional hymns work in a church (unless maybe we're talking alternative e.g. humanist ceremony).

I think I'd be boring and traditional when it came to funerals as well. But I did like that at Graham Chapman's funeral (of Monty Python fame) they sung "Always Look on the bright side of life"!   

I just listened to And You and I with this in mind.

I think the world would cry for you if this played, this song is absolutely beautiful in every way...absolutely stunning ending to kick off the emotions, my dead body would probly start crying!!!!!  Its not even tears of sadness, its almost tears of joy that the beauty of the whole situation exists, and it makes you wonder

Mmmmh... good question. I'm always thinking about that and my friends knows the songs that I like to "listen" in my funeral... Well, more than songs, complete albums... here is my list...
