I'd be interested to know other peoples' lists. Which track from Aerial do you think is most likely to make it into your top 5?

Yikes ... all of mine can be found as singles on The Whole Story ... 
Well, what can I say, sometimes the cream does rise to the top ... I've got 4 albums (The Kick Inside, Never For Ever, Dreaming, Hounds Of Love) ... but the songs I'm nuts about are mainly the singles ...
1) Cloudbusting
2) Experiment IV
3) Wuthering Heights (1986 vocal)
4) Breathing
5) Army Dreamers
other contenders ... Waking The Witch (!), Babooshka, James and the Cold Gun, Hounds Of Love, The Dreaming ...
I must say I'm not too hopeful about the new album because I was deeply disappointed by Sensual World and never got around to checking out Red Shoes

1 - The Ninth Wave (I like to think of that as one track. Like Suppers Ready you cant listen to bits of the suite in isolation, without wrecking the atmosphere of it...)

Trotsky, don't dismiss The Sensual World and The Red Shoes so easily. They're not as good as Hounds Of Love, but then what is? Both contain some duff tracks but also some brilliant stuff. Aerial is great as well.

And Blacksword.........No you can't have The Ninth Wave, even though"I like to think of that as one track." I managed wiith just Jig Of life, even thouighI didnt include it I namechecked it....why can't ypu????

Oh. Why don't you just read the five topmost tracks and ignore the rest?
In general I seldom know what to make of it if people post their top 3s or top 5s. Not enough tracks to put things into perspective.

Oh. Why don't you just read the five topmost tracks and ignore the rest?

I don't mind if people want to put more than 5 tracks down. I normally find I can name my top 5 of most things but then I start to struggle.
Interesting that, apart from Wuthering Heights and Snowy's 2, there is a complete lack of songs from the first 2 albums (unless I've missed one somewhere). Personally I never liked Lionheart apart from Hammer Horror.

Cheers, chopper ... I think I'll probably give Aerial a listen first (hoping to wring it out of the record companies here )
... hopefully it will be good enough to inspire me to track back and
investigate those other two ... but I must say I still remember the
shock of thinking that A Sensual World was boring ...

You've missed my "Wow" and Blacksword's "Moving". But apart from that the observation is correct. I think most fans consider "The Dreaming", "Hounds of Love" and "The Sensual World" to be her peak.

Snowy, get back in your kennel! You should have seen the list I wanted to post! It was bigger than that I tell you..
The Ninth Wave is a suite, it is sacrilage to extract one part and present it as a track on it's own. Would you afford the same discourtesy to a part of Suppers Ready, Close to the Edge, Tarkus or 2112?? I thought not. Besides, Jig of Life is the worst part of the 'piece' IMO...

I may be a "suite" as you call it, but the songs are seperate identities. CTTE you couldn't possibly split, Tarkus probabky not either, but possible...2112 you coukld definitely listen too as single tracks though!! By the way Side 1 is also a "suite" The Hounds of love, but that is often seperated, we;ll it had to be didn't it.
And finally..Jig of Life....my mistake, on reflection I meant Hello Earth!

Kate Bush is one of the few artists outside of prog that I sometimes listen. Kind of a secret pleasure.

Sorry Blacksword, I have to agree with the Dog on this one. I think The Ninth Wave splits into separate songs quite nicely. CTTE definitely not, Supper's Ready maybe. The thing is, will your CD player skip to each individual track in The Ninth Wave? Mine does, but won't on the other ones (although I used to have a CD player with an Index function which would jump to the individual songs in 2112, but that was the only similiar song it ever worked on).
Hello Earth is probably number 6 in my list. The bit where it fades out and then bursts into the Morning Fog is just amazing.
