I am new to the forum and just wanted to say Hi to everyone.I am 39 years old,and cut my teeth on Yes,ELP,Genesis,King Crimson,Rush and the like.I love them all but am now heavily into bands like Spock's Beard,Neal Morse,The Flower Kings,Kaipa,IQ,Transatlantic,Dream Theater and all the side projects of all the members, etc.I have also recently started listening to a lot of progressive metal like Pain of Salvation,Kamelot,Evergrey,Symphony X,Mind Key,Shadow Gallery,Dead Soul Tribe, etc.Am also a drummer, and huge TOOL fan.I have recently come across 2 cd's by ARK and absolutely can't get enough of them(not really prog, and they only did 2 albums but my god are they good).PROG ON EVERYONE!!!!!

Hey, Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Don. I'm 50 yrs old. Have been around the music scene for quite awhile now. I have been in a wheel-chair for 20 yrs, due to a work-related injury. Have met guitar players; Santana, Johnny Winter, Kim Simmonds and Eric Clapton, also drummer Billy Cobham. Have kept an open dialogue with all. My favorite bands: Porcupine Tree, Spock's Beard, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Neal Morse, Pink Floyd, Camel, Allman Brothers band, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and last but not least, Hendrix and Miles Davis. Oh, forgot an incredible band Pain of Salvation their album 12:5 is a work of beauty. Peace.

Hi All
Fairly new myself. Check out Savatage, Nightwish, Porcupine Tree and Threshold for more metal type prog. Thanks to this site I've increased my styles a lot (I won't say enormously cos some members have upwards of 2000 CDs). Well worth it

I'm at the tail-end of this thread, it would seem, so let me introduce myself. I'm not new by any stretch; however, I didn't become a full-fledged member til today...which makes me a "newbie", I suspect. I'm 26 years old, and have been living in Maryland for over 3 years now. I got into Rush (natch!) when I was 14 or 15, due to a snippet of the intro to LIMELIGHT I heard on TV. I thought it was phenomenal, and I had to find out more about this arresting song. Soon, I got all their CD's to that point (even GRACE UNDER PRESSURE...blech). I've been listening to them ever since. Neil Peart has been my main influence as far as my drumming goes, and both Geddy and Alex never fail to deliver gorgeous melodies.
I also like REO Speedwagon, some YES, some Genesis (Foxtrot, SEBTP, Trespass, TLLDOB, etc.), and a lot of singer-songwriter type stuff (Etheridge, Marx, Estefan). My tastes vary according to my mood. It can be Enya one minute and, say, Cannibal Corpse or Decide or Morbid Angel the next. <shrug> That's the way things are. Music, as taste, is subjective.

Who is the dude with the glasses and the leather jacket? Three of them are clearly Gabriel, Banks and Rutherford.
