I have only just recently gotten into Italian prog and my first exposure to it was PFM,so I voted for them.
I also enjoy Banco,Le Orme and Dues ex Machina.I am not familiar with quite a lot of the bands in the poll,my knowledge of this particular genre is somewhat limited.

My vote in this poll go to Deus ex Machina.
But... you forgive other great bands like Area (the best for me!!), Banco, or Il Balletto di Bronzo. They must to be here!!

Le Orme has a very unique sound and, despite de grandiousness of PFM, Museo and Quella Vecchia Locanda, has a discography far more regular in quality than the other prog giants, including PFM. Even their "pop" albums have their moments.

Keep up the good work, Erik (I discovered almost any Italian cd I own because of his reviews!)
And... I voted for PFM with Le Orme as second best

What a pity that so many splendid Italian bands like Museo Rosenbach and Cherry Five only made one album ... |
...and Apoteosi too. Really a fantastic album!!

Most consistently for me ... it is PFM ... but what a magnificent scene ...

I really love Banco and PFM. Lately though I've been hearing Nuova Era which I find very good as well. Of the 70's bands I also love Quella Vecchia Locanda (which are not on the poll ), Le orme and Locanda delle Fatte.

I vote for Museo Rosenbach but I was torn between them and Il Balletto di Bronzo. Y's is a terriffic album but Museo Rosenbach Zarathrusta is more close to my taste. It's very difficult to choose just one band from this brillant scene of progressive music. I discover a lot of incredible albums since I listen to italian bands (for about 1 1/2 year) such as I Giganti, Quella Vecchia Locanda and Le Orme. Just last week, I listen to Latte E Miele "Papillon" for the first time and was very pleased with it, even on the first listen.I want to buy their albums soon.

Le Orme for me...Even though I'm italian I've always considered
italian-prog not much more than a british-prog copy, and more than this
I've always hated italian traditional songwriting and sounds, so that
even great moments of italian scene didn't get me so much. But Le Orme
completely changed my opinion _ and that's strange because ingredients
of their music are the ones I didn't like_ and since them I also
appreciated Uovo di Colombo, Balletto di Bronzo, Perigeo,Locanda delle
Fate. (not as well Banco and PFM)
Collage is a Masterpiece (listen to "Immagin"i)
