Topic: Why I love prog archives... Posted: November 05 2005 at 18:32 |
I'm a member of some music forums in belfast...Where I live and
of course most of them talk about local bands, new up and coming bands.
But when I log onto progarchives. My heart will miss a beat. I'll have
totally forgotten I'm on a prog forum. I'll see a topic enititled 'The
Advent of Panurge' (on of my favorite songs) And say My god why are
people on my NI music forum talking about Gentle Giant?
Then i'll remember I'm on the home of prog. Haha. I seriously gotta remember which link button I press in future.
But yeah I had to share that with everyone. It's just nice to come to a forum where everyone (a few exceptions) love prog music.
Woohoo.sappiest post ever!!
Chris.

I agree, not only about the subject matter, but even though fans have a
lot of different opinions most everyone seems pretty well mannered and
well spoken.

I like it because, unlike a lot of other music boards, there is a genuine intention of exchanging ideas and everyone points everyone else in the direction of great bands that they would otherwise have never heard of. I never would have discovered some great bands like Focus or VdGG without it.

I love progarchives because it's great hanging out with polite, bright, diverse, well-informed people from all over the globe.
And we all share an interest in an underexposed, awesome art from: prog rock.
And I really dig the air of respect - my passion is symphonic rock, yet I've never been bashed for that, nor I have ever bashed someone who is into Zappa or RIO or Canterbury or some other genre.
And technically, the site is brilliantly laid out, graphically attractive, and super-user friendly.
progarchives rules.
