Please start adding new bands to the archives! It's been at 1,964 for too long.

Maybe this is the point of that section but it seems to me that alot of the bands in the orchestral/gothic section arent really prog. Kamelot, Theorion, Rhapsody and even Nightwish are more prog-related/proto-prog metal than true prog. But what do I know im just a stupid noob so Im probably wrong .

tough the word gothic suit all those bands fine.. sadly..

You go and listen to the new Riverside instead of complaining about gothicness

I'll fix that now Trizzle.. (4:28 here now )

I shut down all systems here around 3am... probably the reason why I've just woken up (12am) .

on topic: good to see that Stream of Passion is added to Prog METAL most likely, it is now qualified as Art Rock, but I'm listening to it as we type (hehe) and it is definitely prog METAL.

The chart look very nice now. It's seems to have become quite stable during the last week. There's nothing that pokes me in the eye anymore, and I could imagine a compilation album for each of the five categories without greater difficulty.

What's currently under work? Still polishing the edges of the categories or are you contemplating on the new bands that are not yet included?
Currently listening to:
- Andromeda
- Pagan's Mind
- Kamelot

I want to split the power metal bands:

  • Sypmphonic/Neo Power Prog Metal
  • "Raw"/Power Prog Metal

But that won't affect the general categorization, it will just add clarity as to why bands like Symphony X or Adagio are not categorized as Symphonic Prog. They are Power Metal bands that leave the Power Metal stereotype quite frequently - but always return to that "base style".

I found one band that bothers me. Conception is raw power metal, progressive yes, but why are they in the Neo seaction ?!  I don't recall this being discussed earlier, but surely Conception fits much better with the power metal bands?

Currently listening to:
- Andromeda
- Pagan's Mind
- Kamelot

Ulver's blood inside is Progressive progressive music. This is a band that makes something great and NEVER sticks with that! It's always re-inventing himself.

I have been listening to Riverside a lot lately and somehow I think they fit better in the Neo/Symphonic Prog Metal category than in the neo prog metal (based on the descriptions). This because they have some similarities with a neo prog metal like Nightingale, but also with Symphonic Prog Metal bands like Pain of Salvation and Wastefall.

Anyone willing to follow my lead on this one?

^ I'm curious ... is there any proof that these myspace.com pages are legit?

Nice song, Kohllapse. I think that they can be added - based on that song, mind you.

How do you know that it's legit? I mean, that page is a blog by some person who calls him/herself lengsel. It's not associated with the band or their record label, as far as I can see. I have also never seen any links to myspace.com from any artist or label page (and I've visited quite a few in the past weeks).
