Yeah I was going to put that Genesis review on here- very poor, and doesn't go into any detail about why the band or album is great...

GENESIS "Selling England By The Pound"
Review (Permanent link) by Rockyes
Posted 10:16:37 AM EST, 11/3/2005

5 stars   This cd is a wonderful opera. Love this band. I prefer the first genesis ( Peter Gabriel era). They were very important for my life. Phil collins here is superb. This is one of the best progressive albums in the music history. Buy it or die! thanks to genesis for such as masterpiece. My rating is 5 of course. Great cd! Amazing band!

The GG one is certainly lacking in any sort of detail. I'll e-mail the reviewer anyway, will decide later whether or not to delete. Wink

PINK FLOYD "Piper at the Gates of Dawn, The"
Review (Permanent link) by Marquês Van Prög @ 3:59:51 AM EST, 11/3/2005
5 stars   1967's "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" is the one that started it all for Pink Floyd, back in the early days when bassist Roger Waters, keyboardist Richard Wright & drummer Nick Mason were led by the genius, but doomed singer/guitarist Syd Barrett.

This tells more of the band line up than anything else

5 stars   This is in every way a superb album and is one of the greatest albums in history. The album contains some of the very best songs you will ever hear, such as "Knots" and "River" which are mastifully written. I would reccomend this album to everyone who likes prog it is a MUST HAVE.

This is also fanboyish

QUEENSRYCHE "Operation: Mindcrime"
Review (Permanent link) by Athanasios Patsos @ 12:46:41 PM EST, 11/2/2005
5 stars   Not many words to say about this album... Everyone who has listened to it more than a thousand times knows... Incredible maturity and passion with theatrical elements makes this maybe the first prog metal album for someone to buy. Masterpiece of all times...

Thanks Salmacis & BTF.

We have another "Braindamage" I think. I working on both.Wink The problem with rewriting them to try to make sense is the time element. If anyone feels like doing so, send me the text and I'll update the reviews.

3 stars   The Supertramp are a prog group doing not do prog. And "Retrospectacle" the confirmation to full title. However this farewell until Davies and Hodgson are together, that is to say until "Famous Last Words". Then they becomes a new wave group. And until this point there are almost all the songs they gave back them famous, in a sort of blues POP prog. Then the compilation is not more interesting and or rather becomes material that (but is my opinion) I censor. However thanks it to exist Supertramp.

4 stars   It is not a disk prog, but a disk of "rhytmic noises"! "Deception Of The Trush" is the summary of the project "ProjeKcts" where the group came split in four. And it tested in absolute manner. And this is the truth progressive. Fortunately it is not weighing and it am listened to pleasantly. But it is not a good disk to discover the "90's Crimson".

3 stars   Waiting it has been a disk from 5 stars. If however it contained alone records of 1974. But also in this case would not deserve them because the sound is not good. But it is superior to a bootleg (the live LP of the PFM "Live In USA" nothing says?). The music stays from 5 stars, but the too variety between the two records penalizes too this (in the card) masterpiece. 5 stars for the music. 2 stars for the record of 1974. 3 for those of the '97/ '98. Therefore: 3,3ecc stars, in definitive.

No, records good from as reviewer says. Takes knock, but recovers center of mat. Not to delete, but to allow in now form. Sense of hardness in eye of prog, not of exist. Disks internet require understanding not lolling in "quite hard."

My favourite themes are 'Supertwister' and 'Nimrodel'.  But I think that CAMEL giving of its best does not manage to place itself in the first division of progressive rock, that elite group in which I place GENESIS, KING CRIMSON, YES, VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR, ELP or JETHRO TULL...  Perhaps I discovered them too late...  "Mirage" is a pioneer disc, for that reason the three stars.

Many thanks FitzClap, I had left the rating intact, so I've added the English text.

This may be a bit of a novelty, but I'm requesting my own review to be removed. As you can see, its quite stupid and unjust, as I didnt properly listen to the album, so therefore its uninformative and misleading and kinda embarassing too, so I'd like it removed pls

CAMEL Mirage

2 stars  —  I've long considered Camel a second-tier band within the 70s prog scene, and this album does nothing to change my opinion, as it simply does not stand the test of time in terms of freshness and originality (and I doubt those qualities were prominent even when it came out in the early 70s). . The vast majority of the record is spent (wasted) in a rather hopeless pursuit of interesting harmonic ideas which, upon being discovered , are quickly drowned by filler. Thus, what we have here is hardly different from the self-titled debut (which is nothing special either) in terms of sound and approach - the melodies are mostly forgettable, the chord progression simplistic and predictable , Andy Latimer's vocals tired and bland, and the jamming over-extended and rather uninspired. In a way, every track provides hope with harmonic findings that could be turned into something far better if worked upon, but unfortunately, but the band doesn't bother to develop them any further, thus leaving "Mirage" thin and boring.

CAMEL Mirage

AMON DÜÜL II Only Human
Review (Permanent link) by Lars Kristian Larsen @ 8:54:50 AM EST, 4/17/2005
5 stars — Try at least to get the line-up right. It is Klaus Ebert and NOT Erik Ebert that is playing Guitar and bass. Another truely supperb album by Amon Düül 2. Especially Don't Turn Too Stone and Spaniards & Spacemen. If you don't have it already, go buy it.

No real info on the album, attacking another reviewer, reporting error within "review" which is not appropriate thing to do... not a review at all!

ORME, LE Felona e Sorona progressive rock album and reviews Italian Symphonic Prog

ORME, LE "Felona e Sorona "
Review (Permanent link) by L'albero del pane @ 2:01:39 PM EST, 10/28/2005
5 stars   Really a masterpiece, one of those things that made me proud of be italian. E’STATA UNA VERA E PROPRIA ESIGENZA DI TROVARSI PER SPERIMENTARE IL TEATRO ,QUELLA CHE HA UNITO UN GRUPPO DI PERSONE CHE HANNO DATO VITA ALLA COMPAGNIA TEATRALE “ CLAR DI LUNE “ A BERTIOLO; COMUNE DELLA BASSA FRIULANA. POCHI MA BASILARI GLI INGREDIENTI : UN GRUPPO AFFIATATO , UN AMMINISTRAZIONE COMUNALE ATTENTA E DISPONIBILE, TANTA VOGLIA DI COLLABORAZIONE E, APERTURA A SEMPRE NUOVE ESPERIENZE. SI PARTE CON LA REALIZZAZIONE DI UNA SEMPLICE FARSA FRIULANA,CHE SERVE AL GRUPPO PER FARE CONOSCENZA MA SOPRATTUTTO PER VALUTARE LE PROPRIE POTENZIALITA’. MOLTO ATTIVA E’ STATA LA COLLABORAZIONE CON LE VARIE ASS. CULTURALI DEL LUOGO,SONO NATI COSI DUE EMOZIONANTI SPETTACOLI ( cerclis di lune – San Martino 300 anni di storia ) CHE RIMARRANNO PER SEMPRE NEI CUORE DEGLI ATTORI .SI SCEGLIE DI FARE UN PERCORSO DI CONTINUA SPERIMENTAZIONE; CORSI DI STORIA DEL TEATRO, DI TRUCCO, DI MIMO, DI DIZIONE, SI ALTERNANO A LABORATORI SULLA CORALITA’,SULLA CLOWNERIE,SULL’IMPROVVISAZIONE,SULLA COSTRUZIONE DI UNO SPETTACOLO SERVENDOSI DEI TESTI LETTERARI ETC . MOLTE VOLTE IL GRUPPO SI METTE IN DISCUSSIONE PER LA PRESENTAZIONE DI SPETTACOLI CHE HANNO POCO DI COMMERCIALE,MA CHE RAPPRESENTANO UNA NOVITA’ PER GRUPPI AMATORIALI, COSI’ COME LA SCELTA DI REGISTI ESTERNI CHE CON LE LORO POTENZIALITA’ AUMENTANO LA PREPARAZIONE E L’AUTOSTIMA DEL GRUPPO, CON LABORATORI E CON UNA VISIONE PIU’ APERTA VERSO IL MONDO TEATRALE.

I'm italian and proud to see people who adore Le Orme, but this review, after that few english words, doesn't say nothing about the album, nor about the band!
