Well, they're not prog but I wish Nicke Drake and Jeff Buckley would have been around a little longer.

Pink Floyd with Rog. I've always wondered what their post TFC music
would've sounded like with Roger Waters. Probably crappy, but none the
less......
UK.
Someone said Mahavishnu, yeah for sure. Maybe Return to Forever, but I
like Chick's solo stuff and Al didn't do too badly with his stuff. (or
Stanley for that matter)
Crimson was better evolving. Only some bands can get away with it. If
it weren't for it's changes we'd have no ELP (Lake), wouldn't even have
had a UK to wish a longer lifespan (Bruford/Wetton) maybe no Asia (not
that anyone REALLY cares.... ), none
of their 80s albums which included Belew, which basically made up the
best prog in the 80s other than maybe Rush, wouldn't have Red, I mean,
the list goes on.
I wish the Genesis lineup could've stuck it out a bit longer. Even
without Gabriel, they could've made a couple more Wutherings if Steve
had stayed....
Someone said Transatlantic, but I'm leaning more towards just Marillion
in general, perhaps the Neal Morse lineup of Spock's Beard, though the
newer albums are still really good without him and he's doing well on
his own. Transatlantic was almost a generic thing, almost a no brainer
of sorts. You don't want to like supergroups but gosh darn it, you just
can't help it! Though all their main bands, especially TFK, are eons
better, (and I'm not even a big fan of DT and Marillion.)
I can't think of any others right now, I'm pretty satisfied with the history of prog....

KÍNG CRIMSON's 70's line-up with Wetton, Cross and Bruford. I'm not so sure if Muir was too essential... But he could be hangin' around there too!

U.K., the first as well as the second line up.
Why oh why? And why did Eddie Jobson make such a small amount of records? Okay, he did some other things, like playing in other bands, producing etc. , but there are only 4 studio albums to really prove his genius: the 2 UK studio albums and two solo albums: Zinc / The Green Album and Theme Of Secrets. I wish he's made more.

Dzyan and Brainstorm come to my mind. Also Karthago. And how about Greenslade, Curved Air and (Darryl Way's) Wolf?

Curved Air definitely!
Darryl Way's Wolf is still of my list of bands to check out. It's one of those names I'm very familiar with (in the slipstream of bands like Curved Air), but I've never actually listened to them, because I've never heard somebody praising the band. Well, I'm going to see what others have written about it on the forum.... Hmm, the reviews don't impress me much.

This lot should have stuck around longer and made another album like this, instead of buckling under pressure from Virgin to make stadium rock/pop.
