I've always had a hang for obscure names. I tend to like names like
Camel, Caraven, Kayak, Kebnekise, Gong and Yes. I voted YES in this
poll.
If I coul'd choose freely, my vote would go to EGG. Best bandname ever.

There are many great names I like. I agree with Psychotic Waltz mentioned earlier in this thread. Pink floyd and Dream Theater as well. But I have a "soft spot" if you will, for the names of "post rock/experimental" bands - Godspeed You! Black Emperor, A Silver Mount Zion (twice for the same man), Explosions In The Sky. The names aren't cool, but they have a sort of attracting quality to them that makes me want to hear them. Although I have heard responses (which I can understand) that say these are so stupid names that alienate potential listeners. Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - I like as well. there are probably more, so i'll check in again when remembering them. Oh, I also love the Italian band names - PFM, Quella Vacchia Locanda, Banco (you know the rest) etc.

well to be honest, DDD is much more chaotic then this one is. TBH I've
tried to get Bassfreak to be a bit more....harsh in cracking down on
some of the crap that goes on.

Camel ciggarettes I shouldn't say that entirely..I kinda dig the Turkish Silvers, but...Lucky Strike Lights the best!
Anywho! Poverty's No Crime, now there's a great band name, hah! I really like Porcupine Tree for some reason.

I've heard it's a great cigarette is what I meant to say.

That's better, had me going for a second. I hear DDD is back up on tuesday, have you heard anything similar?
|
yeah, just like last time it went down. Having a blast over here though to be honest with you. I do need to update those lists though, I was planning on doing that this weekend.
|
This place is an ok substitute. Though I am not as keen on some of the lesser known bands mentioned here. I still enjoy the great prog discussion. It is like our little corner of DDD, only expanded. That being said, I still prefer the DDD atmosphere. Go down to the off-topic poll section, people are dissing DDD.

It's probably cheap and fanboy-ish to vote for my favourite band, but
I'm going with them anyway. That would be Dream Theater. I mean, it's a
theater... of dreams! The only thing harder to contemplate is which
part of your body to nickname "Pink Floyd".

How the f**k is Yes a cool name?!
Anyway, even though I don't possess any of their material, Psychotic Waltz is the coolest name i've ever heard.

Pink & Floyd were just the name by two bluesmen. So "Pink Floyd" does not mean much for me. But "King Crimson" is very majestic, poetic, surrealistic, so I love it.
