Not so obscure: the band take its name after two blues singers.

From your list, Hatfield and the North (from the famous road sign as others have pointed out.)
Other names I like:
- Miasma and the Carousel of Headless Horses
- Machine and the Synergetic Nuts
- Birdsongs of the Mesozoic

I'm partial to my own band's name, Onward! Defrosted Tuna Team. After names like Jupiter Bonfire (Obscure parody of the guitarist in Steppenwolf who wrote Born to Be Wild), Negative Creep (Nirvana reference), Chemical Plant Zone (Sonic reference), Stargazer (Rainbow), Working Class Heroes (John Lennon), Sweet Soul Brothers (Jet Set Radio), and Cogs in Cogs (Gentle Giant), this may or may not be the one we settle on.

Dream Theater is a nice and mysterious name, the name also suits the band which is important.
Personally I like shorter names for a band, I especially like Yes and Rush so the latter gets my vote.
Gentle Giant is sort of a Cute name for a prog band :)

Van Der Graaf Generator is a really cool name. It represents both the scientific and mystical, two sides the band seems to explore. A very appropriate name.

Pink & Floyd were just the name by two bluesmen. So "Pink Floyd" does not mean much for me. But "King Crimson" is very majestic, poetic, surrealistic, so I love it.

How the f**k is Yes a cool name?!
Anyway, even though I don't possess any of their material, Psychotic Waltz is the coolest name i've ever heard.
