I've added thirty more bands ... have a look at them and suggest categorisations ... or any other information on the bands, if you know them. Thanks! http://uneasy-listening.com/elements/apps/mreviews/https/Pro gMetal.html Edited by MikeEnRegalia |

I'm still trouble with the "Symphonic Prog Metal" section, some of those bands don't have a single Neo section in them Ie Zero Hour and Pain Of Salvation, is it possible to split them into three subgenres?

I'm glad that it's recognised that Prog Metal is not even really a sub-genre of Prog Rock, as I've had a really hard time trying to get my head around where it fits in. Sorry, but 23 pages on this is heavy going, when it seems that it can be summarised thus: I think that Prog Metal should have a few token representations on Prog Archives, but really should occupy it's own site: Prog Metal Archives, maybe? That's not being rude to Prog Metal, it's simply acknowledging that its relation to Prog Rock is not particularly close - tenuous at best - which is becoming increasingly apparent as I explore the genre. The fact that it seems to require so much sub-classification underlines the opinion I've reached to date - although I'm always open to fresh evidence. I hope that seems fair. |

Yes we could try that ... it would be more difficult, but it can help to determine the criteria. |

I think you'll find that which I have called Symphonic Prog Metal and Experimental Prog Metal more interesting. I'm really curious about your feedback! |

Add "Behold…The Arctopus" to the Extreme Section pls.
They are a trio from New York and they make extremly fast math-prog-metal. http://www.beholdthearctopus.com/ Under "listen", as you probably know^^ There's a video too, WATCH IT! |

You didn't read the fine print ... I'm currently adding all sorts of bands that are somewhat progressive. Don't worry, nothing gets added to the archives just because it's in my lists. Edited by MikeEnRegalia |
