I know Tux. Around these parts "Peter" is a hallowed name!. Newbies are not to know that though.

LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT Liquid Tension Experiment
Review (Permanent link) by tonio @ 4:03:52 PM EST, 2/14/2005 — Overrated Album, no doubts about it.
What's with this technical demonstration, as if Dream Theater was not Technical enough... The guitars parts are really poors, no matter how you look at it, and I wont even speak about the pathetic piano parts... It's till a mystery to me ... how can a supergroup like that make such low level compositions... All these Instrumentists have made tremendously better before, and that's why we cant allow to be kind with them. The compositions are basic and dont bring us even the slightest piece of a surprise ... As a great fan of Dream Theater, I was extremly disappointed with this album. At least the guy gave one description of the music, albeit a very, very wrong one:
"The compositions are basic..."

I'm inclined to leave that one SB. If he thinks the compositions are basic, he's entitled to that opinion.

But if he doesn't specify why the compositions are basic, what value does the review hold? |

There are many reviews which say the "compositions are complex" or the "compositions are basic" without going on to support that assertion in detail. I don't feel it's for me to judge whether such assertions are right or wrong. Likewise, if someone says the lyrics are simplistic when I or others feel they are deep and meaningful, I don't think I should intervene. Where I would probably do something is if they just say "the music is fantastic", or "the music is rotten", without supporting the comment in some way. In this case, the reviewers comments about the complexity of the music is to support his views on how good the album is. I'm happy to listen to opinions on this. |

Personally, I would take the review down. But I'm not an Admin., so I have no choice in the matter. I respect your decision Easy Livin, but I don't agree with you in this case.

YES "Close to the Edge"
Review (Permanent link) by Legoman @ 10:17:01 PM EST, 10/24/2005 Seriously. I can't believe how overrated this album has become. The singer of YES isn't imparticularly talented, the lyrics were written somewhere between recess and lunch and the some of the sounds that are in it are completely obnoxious! I really don't understand how this is someone's favorite YES album and especially how it is THE BEST PROGRESSIVE ALBUM EVER!!1one It isn't. However, this is not to say that I don't like and respect it. I feel that it is good in it's own respect, maybe somewhere on the level of Discipline by King Crimson but certainly not the best. Listen to Darkside of the Moon again, people and lower your 8 foot hard ons for YES. Please.
PINK FLOYD "Dark Side of the Moon"
Review (Permanent link) by Legoman @ 10:10:29 PM EST, 10/24/2005 Perfect. Absolutely perfect. Never before, or ever since, has there been a better album at displaying excellence, actively forwarding the progressive genre and showing just how purely talented a band can be. At several points in this album I find myself completely enthrawled and excited to be listening to something that just... has no... FLAW! It is awesomely orgasmic. Also... those who gave this album less than a 3 star rating, you guys are DUMB! I mean, you don't have to like it but it is still god damn good (and perfect :) ). Seriously. Delete your account if you are one of those people.

An edit needed perhaps Salmacis? I don't think they need deleted all together. Any views? |

WAKEMAN, RICK "The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table "
Review (Permanent link) by Hi @ 2:40:40 AM EST, 10/25/2005 Um. I have to say this is my favorite Rick Wakeman album and I don't know why it has so many terible reviws. I mean whats to bad about it, listen to me this album has genuine prog sound mauch better than most other "prog" not mentioning any names (starts with P.)
Surely "Hi" would be able to wax lyrical if he likes it so much...
