I can't change what you hear but I can always recommend you to see a doctor, if your hearing problems are that bad .

Not synth.....electric piano

The problem it seems is that you want Queen to be a guitare driven hard rock band. Well, sometimes they are, but the beauty of Queen for many is the variety of Queens music played very well. Where would Zep have been if they'd stuck to their blues based formula? Nowhere, thats where

Well at least we got you to admit that Queen had some hard rock and weren't just pop.

And to save you time: your comeback will probably be something along the lines of there only being a few hard rock songs, and that the rest are cheesy pop

Queen has always been a controversy band. I don't really hate them, but with the release of "The game" they turned into a plastic-pop-disco band, making it even worse with "Hot space" and the hilarious "Flash Soundtrack".
But let us be fair. Queen have also produced some memorable albums like "A night at the opera", "QueenII", "A day at the races" and "Sheer heart attack".
And were would the world be without rock-hymns like "We will rock you" and "We are the champions"???
Now, where's the prog in Queen?
The be honest, there's little prog to be found.
"Queen II" has some fine moments, and to pick "A night at the opera", maybe "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "The prophet's song".
But Queen never peformed ordinary rock. There was a bit of glam, show-off, upper class and drama.

Best albums: Queen II, A night at the opera, A day at the races (my favourite by the way)!!!
this world is totally fugazi

OK, that's something I can accept.  I like Queen, but you find them cheesy.  We're never going to convince each other, but we seem to have come to some sort of agreement.

Of course, this means we need to find something else we can argue about for such a long time

I've heard about 10 Iron Maiden albums and they were not metal, more like simple rock.

And where's the double bass drum in their music?!

Maiden are metal - anyone who says otherwise wasn't alive or old enough in the late 1970s. They were at the forefront of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal for flip's sake! How much more Metal do you want?

Metal did not begin in 1991. It changed then, after Metallica (the most progressive metal band ever) released their self-titled album.

I don't want to get into this one again, I was around as you know! You call them metal if you like, doesn't bother me...

I really, really don't believe you, Snow Dog...

It's just incredible to think that anyone who is actually alive doesn't know Iron Maiden to be a metal band. You're right. It's a hopeless and one-sided argument that's pointless to continue, as everyone else knows the truth!

Do they, my friend, who is a lifelong Maiden fan is of the same opinion as I, so I'm not quite alone you see....nevermind, it is of no consequence.

Er... I think you're remembering in Chinese whispers.

Read some of the links - Heavy Metal music is founded in blues based hard rock. That's closer to what I would have said... wherever/whenever it was.

You're patronising arrogance is something I have come to expect from you now, so no surprise there then. I expect you'll have the last word though!

Maybe it would be easier to see beyond your own tastes and actually acknowledge the musical complexity and quality that lies in most of Queen's Album, Tracks such as Bohemian Rhapsody or The Prophet's song, Love of my Life, Killer Queen, Innuendo, etc  are beyond what any of most so called prog bands could achieve, incredible choirs and harmonys, layered guitars, harmonised in 6th and 3ds, a guy that has an unique astronomic pitch range, etc.
Yes, they did crappy pop songs, like Yes and Genesis did in their time, but that does no take credit from what was done earlier in their carrier, in the times of Queen II and A Night at the Opera.

Pardon my english :P .
