My Arms, Your Hearse.

It's the album that got me into metal for real.

With science, you can turn a frog into a Ph.D. and you still have the frog you started with.

Damnation is the only one to get, IMHO.  The most prog, and the least in character!
Cheers!

I'll go with Blackwater Park, although Mikael's growls sound better on Ghost Reveries.

I wanted to vote for Blackwater Park, but Deliverence has not vote i cast in favor of it.  Everytime i listen to Deliverence i like it for and more.  The album is highly creative with even more hippy sounds and hammond organs.  The albums is also the best mix between hard and soft, featuring the darkest playing ever from Opeth.

It's so weird nobody voted for Morningrise!!!

Most of Opeth fans I know like it the most, and it has GREAT songs !!! (including opeth's longest song - "black rose immortal" and their first balad "to bid you farewell" )

If this was a metal site, i'm sure there would be more votes for Morningrise.  I was listening to Morningrise a couple days ago, and i have to admit it's an album that is very underrated by Opeth's progressive fans.  I don't understand why any progressive fan of Opeth likes My Arms Your Hearse, i consider it to be their weakest album.

I'm quite suprised i'm the only one who's voted for Deliverence thus far.  I thought it was a very progressive album with an excellent dark atmosphere.  Deliverence may be quite underrated as well.

I agree about what you said on Morningrise, i didn't think of that before. but also, i disagree about MAYH, i think it's VERY progressive album (the cocept, the lyrics, the riffs and the songs structure are all progressive) and it has some of Opeth's bests like : Demon of the fall, When (love this track!) , the Amen corner and Epilogue. but after all it's just a matter of taste

besides, I think opeth has NO weak album

(sorry if my english is not so good)
