I'm not a fan of neo prog nor of Marillion. Their first record is OK, but IMHO the rest are pretty boring (with the exception of Real to Reel, a good live.)

"Script..." - a masterpiece.

Followed by "Fugazi", "Misplaced Childhood", "Marbles" and "Brave".

I only own two, so I can't really make an informed decision. Out of those I'd say Misplaced Childhood.

It has to be Clutching At Straws, although Script runs it close. After these I would choose Afraid Of Sunlight or Marbles.

Script for me ... the greatest album not just by Marillion, but all of neo-prog ...

"Death to Utopia! Death to faith! Death to love! Death to hope?" thunders the 20th century. "Surrender, you pathetic dreamer.”

"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."

Misplaced Childhood or Clutching at Straws  are Marillions known true gems , close following are Script For A jesters tear (featured Mick pointer on drums who is half the drummer mosley is, though later Hogarth Marillion under uses Ian Mosley`s talents I feel)  Brave is also very good (though I hate to admit it)   Fish era was great ..some people prefer hogarth but for me its Fish all the way he was much more expressive and charismatic Hogarth is kinda boring , I was very devastated when Fish left marillion !

my introduction to marillion was "misplaced childhood", which instantly blew my away on the first listen. i also like "seasons end" from hogarth era. "script...", however, is still the best marillion album for me.
i don't think anybody steals anything; all of us borrow.
