Okay So I'm not the biggest Mars Volta fan, but I decided to go to their concert last night with a friend.  If you ever get the chance to see this band live then do it, do not miss that opportunity.  I always hated the noise parts of the album, but their live jams are really freaking awesome.
They played nonstop for slightly over 2 hours, amazing instrumentals and the front man is really good.  He performed like no one else I'd ever seen. Anyway a 5 star concert.

I saw them perform at the tabernacle in Atlanta in May, and I must say that is the greatest live show I have seen to date.  But I think Opeth will beat that \m/

how did you see them play for over 2 hours, on the system of a down tour they only play a 1 1/2 hour set.  I was at one of the concerts

edit: never mind the SOAD tour is over, you got lucky to see just them :/ I wish I was there

well I went to it and they were awesome.   THe mars volta never put on a bad live show.  Its way different from the cd, but it is very good.  You do know that they have a reputation for being a good live band right?

I saw their live show the other week and I must say it was one of the cooler concert experiences I've had. I love their album stuff too. It's something different than the usual.

I love the mars volta! They push the boundaries of what progressive music should be about, all of their music is open for interpretation, I don't per4soanlly agree with their theory that an album should have no gaps which means the sound/noise parts enfuriate me but Omar is a prog god of the future along with JP, Matt Bellamy, Tool, Coheed and Cambria etc.

Id love to see tham live but iv never had the chance thus far due to both iv never had the money when they come round plus iv alwys been abit warey as they can either play a set of say 8 different songs (from both albums) plus a super long jam or play just 2-3 songs for 2hrs plus the super long jam.
