Yes i also feel that it was alot easier to add artists in the past...however i think only proto-prog artists should be the artists that would inspire the truly progressive artists of the 70's

Led Zeppelin is a lot more progressive than any so called progressive metal bands. Accepting dozens of five stars reviews of something like Octavarium and refusing any Led Zeppelin is just a silly joke.

This is the point, Citanul. What does constitute "significant proportion"? The expression itself, is only a subjective estimation. Many have tried to make an objective and valid so called "progometer", but miserely failed. That "significant proportion" you're talking about, would, in your words, give the right to include all the discography of a band...It's exactly what I'm saying about Led Zeppelin, Blue Oyster Cult and Doors! the proggiest led zeppelin song has to be 'How Many More Times' from the first album. The eerie middle section is one of the most original and strangest compositions of the late 60s for me. Led Zeppelin is very progressive indeed ... proto-prog metal but it probably doesn't sound very 'prog-like' like the bands listed in this site.
putting led zeppelin is like putting Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young or the Beatles.
PS : Why isn't Al Dimeola here?? (virtuosic prog classical jazz-fusion) Edited by Zitro |

I agree about Al Di Meola... that is really really strange... maybe we should create another thread about him |

Well, I think you should include the whole discography, otherwise you get into arguments as to which albums should be left out. And you're right about it being subjective. You think Zeppelin should be here, and I think that they shouldn't (although I'm not going to complain about it if they do get included at some point). That's why we now have the Band Admissions Team to make these decisions for us. |

Oh please ¡¡. If people keep looking for bands to be included in this site for making a few songs "out of the ordinary". Which in fact are nothing but quality songs, one day we´ll be reading on every band in history with the single exception of "The Ramones". Stop wondering ¡¡¡. That´s why we have now Purple, Uriah heep, Queen and many more that once wrote a song with a shine of creativity. Each genre received a name for a reason. Dude #1.- "Ey ¡¡¡. Did you listen to that?...WOW ¡¡, that was a 9/6 signature (Or whatever, I don´t understand music that well), right there from minute 2:35 to 2:39....could this be prog? Dude #2 thinking.- "What?, I could not say" saying.- "Yeah it was great. this should be prog" Dude #3.- "Have you heard this new prog band ?, they are really amazing, their music has every single prog element" Dude #15,000.- "Should The white stripes be in prog archives?" Prog archives´ overall list in 3 years from now: "White stripes # 29" (Above Zarathustra)
