While I'm a fan of both bands and treat their comic book gore covers and lyrics with the irony they deserve, I still think a lot of people can find them unpleasant to look at. And when I said 'links' I meant URLs without the actual picture file name in them, just something like http://www.abc.com/discography (not an actual link, just made up)

Well this is a ROCK site so Rock album covers are part of it> what this thread does (from what I could read anyway ) is denounce the ugly album cover: some are frankly tasteless , some are funny because theyare tacky and others can be considered offensive by some members>

None of those covers have offensed so far (but I am relatively thick-skinned , not just on feedback from my reviews , but also about a lot of things in life) , and I participated in a discussion regarding Scorpion's Virgin Killer and Blind Faith's album for child nudity (not pornography) etc.... Those covers are on public view from rock record buyers and have been for 30 years (in the case of the two mentioned) and it has not caused censorship (except some rare lands)

 

I recognize there is some bad taste on the thread , but those not thick-skinned enough can always not open the thread - the title is warning you enough (I think!) before you even open it up! So if you think you shall be offended by such a subject , do not open it up!!! Simple as that!! Are those easily-hurt persons, so masochistic that they will open the thread up and gaze at inferno??? Maybe those sensible minds might want to seek psychiatric advice !!

 I certainly do not mean to hurt Manunkind , who is clearly offended by the thread, but the best thing to do is ignoring the subject. The best/worst thing a thread like this will do is the exact reverse effect: it will bring even more attention to the controversial thread!

Maani let this thread open (but he did intervene) and he is a minister (but also a great believer in freedom of speach),  so you got one moral person that chose the laissez-faire attitude.

^well, he said himself that he knows covers much worse and doesn't wand to post them. He is also a fan of Cannibal Corpse and the likes and he said he takes their covers as "comic book gore"... Doesn't look like someone who likes Cannibal Corpse and Deicide can be offended by that Scorpions cover

btw, I posted both Virgin Killer and Cannibal Corpse covers, I can delete them if they bothers you. Most covers there are just hilariously tasteless, not offencive.

I'm a big boy (well, sort of), I appreciate Henry Miller, but that cover over there is dodgy enough and IMO, unlike the Henry Miller books, there's very little artistic quality to justify or even redeem it. Deicide sucks, BTW (apart from the second album...) btw, I posted both Virgin Killer and Cannibal Corpse covers, I can delete them if they bothers you. As the thread starter, let me chip in with my two Euro cents. It has never been my intention that this thread would evolve into something including mutilating corpses and naked virgins. On the toher hand, it is my opinion that on a message board the thread starter does not own the thread, and should therefore not complain about the direction the thread is taking. I was more looking for "so awful you have to laugh" type covers, though.

but we rather like naked virgins!!!
