Dream´s music doesn´t like you?...Has Dream´s music met you in person ?...just kidding

That "aguante carajo" sounds very familiar. I did´t know "carajo" was used in Argentina. It´s so Mexican ¡.

This is the easiest decision I've made all day, Van der Graaf Generator, no contest

I still don´t know what is "Dream" doing in this site. What is it with prog fans to keep adding bands to the prog world for small moments of "more experimental", and "less conventional" music than normal  in their discography?. Dream Theatre to me is a great solid and powerful metal band with just more diversity in their sound and structure than other metal bands.

I recently heard Pain of salvation - "Used". ...Now, that is cheesy and intentional prog ¡¡. It just sounds so forced and with such a lack of conviction I was about to be sick. music like that start coming out when criticts say Metal can be considered "Better metal" if it is prog. This song I´m talking about is plain Metal, some sort of Pantera´s Metal. No better or any different at all. Then, they suddenly present this mellow, melodic ballad moment with no justification whatsoever. ...OH PLEASE ¡¡¡. Don´t tell me that is not "intentional prog" ¡¡¡.

Now, Dream is nothing close to that "cheesy" metal, but it´s not anywhere near that feeling of true prog like "Lizard", "Foxtrot", "Tarkus", etc. Please consider Dream a metal band and let them feel proud for making the best metal ever.

About the Van Der Graaf vs. Dream issue, ...Well, I can´t think of anythig as original, bizarre, and with so deep textures as " Sleepwalkers" in any "Dream" album.

Dream Theater is progressive metal, and progressive metal does in fact exist.  Progressive music is known for diversity in sound and great song structure.  Well Dream Theater has done some albums that have great structure and they certainly have a diverse palette of songs whether you like all of them or not.

Used is not a good example of Pain Of Salvation, and i could understand progressive rockers hating that song, but comparing Pain Of Salvation to Pantera is f**king disgraceful.  Those two bands are everything apart.  Pain Of Salvation can play soft, complex, and emotional.  Pantera can make you feel like a retarded redneck.  (yes, i think Pantera f**king blows)  In order to get the full experience from Pain Of Salvation, you must listen to the full album.  It could be said that tons of Pain Of Salvation songs are less than brilliiant on their own, but in the format of the albums they have great structure.  I think Used is a decent at best song, but i think it's a good intro for The Perfect Element album.

I absolutely love Dream Theater and of course i voted for them, but this is a very bad poll.  All of the progressive rock fans are going to vote for Van der Graaf Generator, and all of the progressive metal fans are going to vote for Dream Theater.  This is just a bad poll.  Both of these are great bands with excellent technical skill, but there are many more things that need to be similar in order to compare bands.

You can't compare the two, so I'm not gonna vote.

Wait.... how do DT and Van Der Graaf Generator have anything in common? And if there is, is it dispute worthy?

I get your point, I really do. I questioned Dream T being in this site just to make more evident the fact that many people is always wondering whether a band should be included or not.

If most people say progressive metal exist, then I must agree. However, 7 years ago they came to México, I had never heard them before and a friend told me they were progressive and very good instrumentalists, etc..Well, I went to see them and I found nothing I could relate to prog in that two hours concert. To me it was metal, very well played, but that was it.

Now I´ve identified some details for which prog fans call Dream T. prog. It´s fine with me. ...In such case, I could name some "salsa" bands that play latin jazz that could be called prog salsa bands. That wouldn´t be a hit in this site right?.

Dude #1.-  "Oh listen ¡¡¡. Did you hear that violin sound right in that 15 seconds sudden change of mood?. It was great ¡¡. ...Ok, let´s keep headbanging with the rest of the 58 minutes of the album"

Dude #2.- "Oh yes, what a great melodic section of 15 seconds...and the violin was great...you know?, this is prog ¡¡¡"

Dude #3.- "It´s prog"

Dude #4.- "pure Prog"

...........Dude #10,000 .- "Metal prog"

Both are good, I prefer DT
I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

You can't deny that there isn't something familiar about Busey and PC:
