yeah I see the logic in that, it is in a way the standard against all prog epics are judged.

I agree that ctte is the standard but that doesnt mean its the best. Id be surprised if many people think that it is the best. I think that Gates and awaken are better.

They both belong to my rather select (<200) group of 10/10 songs, but in my current ranking CttE is at #168, whereas SOYCD takes place #2.

I would be surprised as well, the question to me was open ended.   Could be best, greatest, innovative, etc.. If you sort of throw all those together, Close to the Edge uber alles
