Of course, you're all right.

Hail Master Fripp.

Let's bring some seriousness to this site:

If we had to name "Prg man" to anyone, that would be FRIPP, definitely. Because he has not stoped doing prog. Howevr, I disagree with those who say "He´s just what prog should be". or "He´s what prog is all about" .

I think Fripp´s music has had a style and sound very "progressive". anti-pop at least. But I don´t think Progressive rock should be only what FRIPP offers. This genre has shown to be more diverse, more colourful, more creative and richer in moods than all those Starless-red-discipline-like-albums.

One of the characteristics I love of this genre, is diversity. Something King Crimson has shown in a small degree is precisely that, diversity.

Have you been drinking? That's the alcohol talking right there. If there's a word that defines Crimson it's diversity.

One question. What do I have to do to show a Quote?, just like "El bothy" and "pagmatic" just did?. I select "quote" and a message on the space appears showing the text of that person. But then after I submit both the quote and the text, the format is not the same as these guys´.

Just press Quote. Write your message below and post it. After you do, it will look just fine.

.

Hmmm not necessarily what I wanted to point out...

Robert Fripp(or Pete Hamill I think both would be the most solid contender) are what prog really represents: normal lookin people, doing extraodrinary music on paper and on tape! I don't see prog as a showoff style! And most people will agree that when people start to see showings of virtuosity in prog, it ain't no prog anymore! That does not mean that the music from these people is plain bad, it can evenstated as great moments in prog history!

But Now, when you think about it, who really deserves the name of incarnation of prog? Robert Fripp sitting on a chair during his shows, or Rick Wakeman with his cape and his tons of keyboards? Maybe Peter Gabriel with all his costumes, or Ian Anderson with his crazy dances and big beard could be the best answer!

Robert Fripp(or Pete Hammil) SHOULD incarnate prog, because they are what prog is all about:  prog is not a show, btu  intelligent and inner music. Their personality incarnates prog music. But then, what is the real face, the real incarnation of prog? Not to us, progheads, but to the world in general? Mostly, Rick Wakeman flamboyant style and personality really IS  the incarnation of prog, despite what it really is. This is one of the reason why so many people neglect progressive rock! The judgements, always the judgments!

So my final answer was and will stay Robert fripp should be seen as the real face and incarnation of prog, but, maybe sadly maybe not its up to you to decide this, Someone like Rick Wakeman will remain the face of prog, not because of his beautiful keyboard work with the Strawbs, Yes or his solo career(well his good albums ), but because of his personality, his long blond hair, his cape, his numerous keyboards, his stage presence and how it molded the cliche about prog music that it is overblown and self-centered!

i am eager to ear what you think about this!

The question was not whom's music is the most prog! But who reprensent the genre!

On the first question it is Fripp and maybe Peter Hammil! Because of their diversity, their consistency in their work, their devotion to their music and to development and ''progression'' of it!

I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.
