^ Sieges Even are now signed to InsideOut ... the new album should be available everywhere.

BTW: I can't believe that Octavarium is leading this poll ... where is all this support coming from? It's clearly not a 5 star album. But what do I know ...

Opeth's the only one I'm even likely to like. So that.

2 much DT fanboys here

My beloved Room V gets only 3 votes...

The prog metal albums of 2005:

1.Room V

2. Ghost Revries

3.Octavarium

I havent heard the Dead Word yet... but I don't think It can beat the awesomeness of the Room...

The question is: are the other albums five starrers?

From those:

1. Ghost Reveries by far
2. Room V which is quite good, the best from Shadow Gallery
3. Octavarium, which was quite enjoyable for a while at least

^ yes of course ... Ghost Reveries has an average rating of 4.53 right now, and Room V is a 5 star album in my book ... and with an average rating of 4.34 still well ahead of Octavarium (3.90).

BTW: I'm a Dream Theater fanboy ... and even I can admit that Octavarium is not a brilliant album. A good album, with some really good songs and ideas, but as a DT album it's simply not as good as I&W, Awake, ACOS, Scenes, ToT or 6DOIT.

Without a doubt - Ghost reveries

Octavarium really let me down, because of that album DT are not my favorite band anymore!!

imo, the ideas there are not original at all, and they are trying too hard to sound like other bands that they forgot their own uniqueness

Opeth on the other hand always trying something new and they keep surprising me with each release

(sorry if my english is bad...)

I don't care that it is not released yet, it is going to be the best.

Biomechanical - The Empires of the Worlds is probably second.

Not fair, that album isn't out yet

I am a big DST fan,I hope it's as good as their past efforts.

The new Sieges Even album is a recent purchase of mine and IMO one of their best albums, and that's saying alot.Stream of Passion's "Embrace the Storm" didn't impress me much at first but is growing on me with each subsequent listen.Just don't listen to it expecting to hear Ayreon because this is really different.

^ I see.

Well, maybe Symphony X manage to finish their new album this year ... that would also be a hot contender.

^ Nah....

The quality of their music IMO has gone downhill. Sym X is no longer a contendor in any of these polls.

The Odyssey is a 5 star album for me (ok, 4.5 stars) and MANY others.

System of a Down - Mesmerize. Though I don't want to cause any controversy so I'll vote for the next best thing: Opeth's Ghost Reveries. I can't wait for Riverside's new album though.
