...or are there?

Seems to me that the Great White North is disproportionately represented on this site. Methinks Canada has way too many prog-nerd-types.

Peter, Useful Idiot, Max, ProgLucky, Wallace, BebieM, Hangedman, Vibrationbaby to name but a few off the top of my head. But there are tons of other regular Canuck posters.

Seems the lack of Hockey last year may have increased traffic to this site

We need to get out more.

Discuss.

The lack of hockey certainly has me on here more then I would be otherwise, but I really cant think of any reason that canada would seem have more posters per capita than any other country (especially considering were such a small country population wise). It may be that there are less options for us like prog gatherings, festivals, or communities. We have a very large amount of computers in this country so maybe us prog heads have no choice but to reach out to the internet.

I'm originally from Detroit. I'll probably never get to see Stevie Y play again. That's a tragedy.

I also live two hours from San Jose. The Sharks were really getting better and .

Yeah, just as the Sharks were getting good, they get up and quit. Athletes need to learn to not care if they don't make $20 Million a year and just play the game. People these days are so greedy.

That irony for ya. I want hockey back as well. I don't see how people can't enjoy it. Is it because it's too violent? Or maybe there just too much action (but since when was too much action a problem ())? Idk. O well, life goes on, i think.

To address the actual question: All those Canadians...tsk tsk tsk...

Did ya notice that their are alot of British here as well?? Hmm...........

Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive

As a part-canadian myself, (some 16 years in Toronto and a brother who still lives there), and as the site is now located in Quebec, it would seem logical that crazy cannucks would make a disproportionate ratio of the members. I think there are one or two more you forgot to mention: James Unger is from Toronto  and Lise (Hibou) are Collaborators not using the forum much but very present in the Archives database. Greenback is also around.

BTW, although a Toronto inhabitant , I was not a Maple Leaf fans (and oredicted them eternal doom as long as Harold Ballard was the owner - funny that once gone , the Leaves are doing much better) but a Habs fan. Too bad about the Quebec tax breaks that hinder Habs but also forced the Nordiques to Denver/Colorado. But this is a general Canadian thing, as all Canadians teams are getting the short end of the stick because of taxes.

I looked up at Baseball standing recently, what happened to the Montreal Expos?!?!

This dates from 7th March 2005 - only 6 from Canada!? (I remember seeing more recent & detailed country poll in April maybe, didn't find it now.) I think there must be about that many Finns, but for some reason my countrymen are mostly silent in the Forum. Haloo! Missä olette?

Anyway, hooray to Canada for its activity here!

Polls on this site cannot be trusted because there are no criteria or obligations to participate. Since there is over 1000 members (some 400 hundred more or less regulars)

I would estimate them Cannucks at around 15  but they have important roles in the Archives incuding recent additions as moderators. Power to the Hosers, eh!

Hi, I'm from Rome, Italy. My question is the opposite: I can't think of any reason that Italy would seem to have less posters than many other country in this site. And Italy has a well know tradition in prog music, IMHO in Europe second only to UK (this is the start of another war: and Flower Kings? And Anglagard? And Magma or Gong? And Grobshnitt? And....)

No reson except one: the language. As italian I'm able to write an at least decent english and translate quite everything (sadly not your slang), but it cost me time and some effort, expecially when I post a complex thinking.

Plus, Italy is quite out of live concert circuit.

But isn't a problem: I found this site cool and friendly, and it is enough for me.

But this IS "Discussions not related to music," thus perfectly appropriate.

The NHL grew too fast with not enough real talent to go around and a smaller fan base then the owners expected. Greed on both sides is a real problem not easily solved. The NHL is my favorite spectator sport. Fast and furious. The minors are great, but they get zero exposure on television. I'm hoping for some resolution and an October season opener.

Do you think we'll see them play come October?  Is Bettman the main problem... mishandling the negotiations?

No reason except one: the language.

Actually I feel the same about Belgium, especially knowing that there are a few hundred dedicated fans on both side of the language border (Flemish and francophone) , but it appears that the language barriers stops people from posting but not consulting the database. Lots of acquaintainces (mostly at concerts) have been telling me that they agree or disagree with my reviews but they were also surprised I wrote reviews at all (I have made no  publicity about my reviewing outside telling close friends).

HOCKEY: All the professional NHLers suck, but yes they will be playing in the autumn. (And there was much rejoicing)

ITALY/ITALIAN/BELGIAN PROGGERS: IMHO Italy (and much of Europe) has an extremely rich Prog history and appreciation for the genre, the only thing stopping more Italians from posting here is (obviously) the language...

CANADIANS: The point I was trying to get across was that for a smaller nation (only 30 million) compared to let's say our neighboUr to the south (say 250 million), proportionately there are more Hosers than Yanks for instance...

SUOMI: The Finns also seem to fall into this category. For a somewhat small nation they sure love their Prog!

LEUTONIA?: Wallace laddie, wair the feck is this wee towne?

RYE: Better than Bourbon, not as good as Scotch

ROBERTSON SCREWS: With a square 'ead eh!

MILK: It comes in bags, how they get 4 Litres into only 3 bags remains a mystery...

ZAMBONI: Kind of like the 'rinse cycle' for a hockey game
Marmalade...I like marmalade.
