Thanks Trotsky for those words. Occasionally things come together, here inspired by a record I first heard in 1969. I feeling devious at the moment, as I thinking to add (if it is not there already) and then write a review of Come Taste The Band by Tommy Bolin and his backing band at the time, Deep Purple...................... Hehe- some people, despite the fact they can't speak english well, should really be made collaborators because they write intelligent criticism that I ENVY almost as much as I envy Rob-the-good's talent in reviewing And it's not always because the bad english makes it just plain hillarious Bj-1 although that review by Ozalan was pretty damn funny. Take this recent review for example: http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=48539 I'm only just getting into In the Court of the Crimson King and because I love it so much so far, I may have reason to disagree with some of what this man writes but only because I'm allowing the album to soak into my brain at the moment. He, on the other hand, knows the album well and is stepping back to take a look at the bigger picture quite effectively. His english (that he politey apologises for in the first sentence) only has a few glitches but that doesn't stop him from getting the main points across in a way that definitely attracts attention from the average musical intellectual. Well done and thank you for some good reading Eduardo! |

The 1-star review of Roger Water's 'Wall in berlin DVD and CD' really stand out!
uuaaahh
But he/she makes a good point : the music was badly affected by those guest musicians (especially in Another Brick on the Wall pt1 and pt2) |

Well, I'm not sure what this one is trying to say. Apparently their fire was extinguished with this one, though. Whether the comparison to Toto and Journey was favorable or not is anyone's guess. KANSAS Drastic Measures |

here are two good ones, but maybe more are to come ()
YES "Close to the Edge" I am sick and tired of listening to you old folk talk about how you don't enjoy quality acts such as Dream Theater. One reviewer said it's not to his taste...ok then that's fine. So let me have my say now. If i want to fall asleep or have a good laugh, I'll listen to Yes or Genesis or Pink Floyd (etc). C'mon you oldies...this music is not as great as you all say it is. I am a 25 year old bachelor of music composition graduate and have been playing the keyboard, guitar and drums for a little over 10 yrs, so I AM a musician, unlike most of you. But instead of going into a lengthy essay about why this music is just plain boring, I'll just do what so many of you people do and say 'it's not to my taste'. So there you have it, I voiced my opinion and I don't care if you don't care but I am honest to God when I say that crappy old school prog rock bores me to tears and no matter how many times I listen to Yes' 'Close to the Edge', I will never understand why you guys get boners over it. The music is nothing earth shattering. But it's fine, if you oldies get so excited and this sorta stuff makes your hair stand up...well that's fine...but seriously now, just make sure you know there are educated musicians like myself who simply find it all boring.

Most users from this forums are writing similar reviews about contemporary and avant-garde prog and they don’t find their place in this thread. hmmm...

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART (AND THE MAGIC BAND) "Trout Mask Replica"
Review (Permanent link) by Zargus @ 8:51:51 AM EST, 10/4/2005 Well i am not gona go in on song too song, becaus there is to many of em. This album surly isent for everybodys tast. Its a very stranges album and its realy amazing that it was made 69 yust think about it this groundbraking music is like 40 years old soon, thats hard too belive becaus it sounds like it culd have been recorded yesterday it have no of that deted feeling so many othere albums from that time have now days this music is absolutly timles it will never get old can not get old, its too crazy for that, so buy thes masterpiece of strangesness and be ready for a ride and get blown away. So as i said this may not be your taste i must confess my self this is far form being my nummber 1 album of all time but nomather if i like it or not anybody with anymusic taste will agree that this is a landmark album.
