Hello all,

I will be attending a horticulture convention in Amsterdam the last week in November and wondered if anyone who's been there can recommend good live clubs, CD shops, prog-oriented coffeeshops, or anything else that would be good for a prog fan (or non-prog fan for that matter).

In between the horticultural conferences, I'm hoping to get out and "take in" a bit of the city life.

Thanks

a horticulture convention in Amsterdam?

There are some great record shops there, at least there were. I picked up a really good Yes bootleg there with all of Gates Of Delirium on it. Check out the Heineken museum.

Just what kind of horticulture convention?

the one that supplies most coffee shop in Netherlands.

On the more serious side, I am actually finding that most record shops in Holland do have a prog section , it has only neo-prog or Ultra symphonic prog in it!

I'm not sure about the exact details of the convention, but one of my co-workers informed me that a widely-read horticulture journal is putting together some sort of symposia where other experts get together and scientifically and holistically analyze various strains and geni of plants cultivated with the latest techniques...you know, that sort of thing.

Some one name Patty Smith will be entertaining the younger folks. I understand she has an interest in gardening.

Try to e-mail Progwalhalla: [email protected], he has a CD/DVD progrock mailorder service and lives near Amsterdam (in Zaandam). If you make an appointment with him in Amsterdam, I'm sure he will deliver you most of the progrock that is available, success!

And if you don't, I advise Boudisque in the Haringpakkerssteeg and Concerto in de Utrechtsestraat, both great CD/DVD shops (Concerto also has a large second hand LP/single collection).
