Here are some bands and solo performers that could  be added now, under Prog Related...

  • David Bowie
  • Kate Bush
  • Wings
  • Be Bop Deluxe
  • Metallica
  • Kings X
  • Magnum

What do you think? Any other suggestions?

but me thinks that although some of the albums might be concidered progressive some albums are not progressive...so should only the progressive albums be added then?

Yeah I agree with your list by and large- not sure about Wings to be honest, but I'll listen to their stuff again to check...Very glad you mentioned Magnum (I love 'em!)too...

I'd also add Iron Maiden, who were definitely the most progressive of the NWOBHM boom. Every album, bar perhaps 'No Prayer..', has something that is very progressive on it.

I reckon 10CC could be included- they are defintiely quite progressive on songs like 'Une Nuit A Paris' (a three part epic!) and albums like 'How Dare You' and 'The Original Soundtrack'.

10cc, agreed!

I was thinking of the Wings album Band on the Run, quite proggy in parts and even Red Rose Speedway at a stretch!

How about Groundhogs? I know they're a blues-based band, but stuff like "Split" is pretty prog.

I agree on The Groundhogs- 'Who Will Save The World' is their proggiest album, as it's swamped with mellotrons amongst the complex heavy rock they specialise in.

I think Lone Star could be included too, alongside Rainbow, though only the Dio period is approaching prog.

Incredible String Band - probably belong in the roots of prog. I know they influenced quite a lot of other bands.
I'd still have to say no to Wings, Snowy. As much as I like McCartney, I can see this causing as much controversy as Queen. I mean, can you see "Mull of Kintyre" in the Archives?

Incredible String Band for sure- actually I like to think of them as the founding fathers of 'acid folk', so yes, proto prog is more appropriate. I'm still unconvinced about Wings- to me, it's simply pop/ rock...maybe I'm missing something though.
